Hi, just wondering if anyone has any useful tips or things they tried apart from the obvious of just shagging loads. Did you use OPK's for 1st time, try different positions, tilt your bum after? Just curious as with DD I used OPK for 1st time and 'boom shake the womb'I got BFP that month. Struggling to get pregnant 2nd time round despite using OPK's again.
Thanks in advance x

We weren't trying but I was actually training for a 1/2 marathon and was at my physical peak- my personal trainer has since told me that lots of ppl he knows get preg when training loads- due to healthier life style - weight loss / gain

Sex every day for a week around ovulation - took this approach out of laziness as I've no real idea when I ovulate as CM can be hit and miss and can't be bothered with OPK's.

Sadly ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks but will take the same approach this month.

Strangely enough this article was published this week

Wow can't believe how many replies I've had, thank you all so so much some really funny and sound advice from you all. Basically it seems it'll happen when it happens, i'll try and relax about it and maybe go to Alton Towers!

I used clear blue OPK for the first time, the ones with the smiley face. I was ovulating much later than I thought. Got pg that month.

Like many others here, I got pregnant the first month we stopped trying. After 11 months and one mc, I just thought "sod it, let's take a break".

Of course I couldn't help but notice EWCM and stuff (though wasn't checking obsessively). And I can say with some certainty that we didn't have sex on the days I had EWCM, and had lots of sex on all the "wrong" days. Stopped taking folic acid, didn't write anything in diary, didn't put legs in air or owt. Basically just forgot about it.

Lo and behold, I'm now 9 weeks pregnant.

Good luck!

Following 2 mc's and a year of obsession. I finally got pregnant the month I told myself to get a grip on myself and relax. I spent my time drinking, having FUN, had sex at other times of the month.
I now have a 9month old DS who is adorable, if I say so myself, who is the apple of his daddy and DS's eye.

So the moral of the story is to relax and think of something else.

Good luck.

TMI WARNING!!

Had a funny feeling this time round straight after we shagged, I thought "good grief that was deep!!", and then when I went to the toilet, nothing came out. Same the following morning, nothing at all came out. Not a drop.

Now 12 weeks pg.

Good luck!

(PS: I told you it would be graphic )

DH and I had both given up alcohol. I'd read that sperm need about 100 days to renew themselves so that anything you do to try to improve the quality of sperm will take about three months to take effect. Sure enough, almost three months to the day after our final drink, I got pregnant!

We'd also been using Pre-Seed, which we found very helpful.

But I'd also had a very stressful time in the previous six months, redundancy, new job, exams, big commitments, busy social life. Over christmas and New Year, and in the first few weeks of Jan, we really got a chance to just chill out and relax and I think that made a huge difference.

the other big thing was that we went for our first infertility tests and I'd had a HyCoSy on day 9 of my cycle. I don't know if it kick-started my ovaries or cleaned out my tubes, but I would have conceived on or about day 14........

i'm another one who after a year of temping, opks and stressing about the lack of positive results, "gave up" and got a bfp!

If my suspicions are correct, I've also managed a bfp(i'll find out this weekend) by having sex on nights 8 and 9 and taking folic acid, calcium and magnesium since.

It probably had nothing to do with it, and you'll see from the other answers that people will all have conflicting advice...BUT since you asked...

DH had had an SA which indicated that although his count and mobility were fine, his morphology was on the low side. I put him on pycnogenol and Marilyn Glenville vitamins and figured we had no chance this month, as it takes nearly 3 months to see an improvement, if any, taking vits to help with morph. We kind of put TTC on hold, but made an effort to have sex more frequently - 2-3 times a week throughout the entire month instead of a frenzied marathon the week of ovulation.

Totally was not expecting it, but here I am at 37 weeks Good luck!
