31 weeks, suspected early labour, anyone else been through this?

Am 31 weeks pregnant with 2nd lo.

Yesterday morning I had full blown contractions until I got in the bath at lunch time and they stopped. I had pain across my bump, lower back and tightenings all over the bump.

I was told to go into hospital and monitored. My tightenings continued but they don't hurt, my cervix is in tact too.

This morning the midwifes wanted to keep me in because they thought I was in early labour. But the doctor said I could go home as long as I rested.

My tummy is still contracting but it's not sore.

Anyone else been through this? Did you have the baby early?

I went through this with DS1, and it does feel very worrying at the time. I had painful tightenings at 29 weeks and went in to be monitered.

They said my cervix was effacing (getting softer) but not actually dilated.

I stayed in hospital for 5 days and they gave me blood pressure drugs which seemed to settle things down. They also gave me precautionary steroids for the babys lungs in case he came early.

Thankfully he held on, but was still born early at 35 weeks.

I think its a good sign that your cervix looks fine. Do try to rest as much as you can though. Although being in hospital all that time was really dull, it forced me to do nothing but rest.

I feel fine, still getting tightenings across the bump and had a bit of pressure on my pelvis but no pain.

The funny thing is that the midwives wanted to keep me in on the basis that I had a high pain threshold and I might be having contractions.
