hallo neddie - don't be a stranger! I was in a similar state this time last year with 8 weeks to go. Happy Belated Birthday Greetings and all that.

as if things weren't SHITE enough I am now coming down with the bleedin' lurgy - have been squirting medicinal liquids up my nose all day to no avail...

/pfffthhthth

am looking forward to this trip to the Greek Islands

D took a step all on his own this evening - he had been practising standing all day at nursery and when we got home OH had him standing up holding onto his push along trolley. Anyhoo he let go, stood balanced and then took a step!!! [unready mummy emoticon}

It'll be a one off like the waving bye bye which he did once 3 weeks ago and refuses ever to repeat again...

johnworf · 08/07/2009 20:17

mrsb oooh wow. Taken his first step! How exciting I think once he finds he can get around then he'll be off! Clever boy.

Know what you mean about them doing something then they seem to forget about it for a few weeks and then remember they can do it again. K was saying dada, mama, baba and now nothing apart from ear piercing screeching. I'm sure it'll all come back to her...one day.

Can't believe you're ill. We must be the most ill people on this thread. We've all been down with something pretty much since the start of last winter. If not us, then the rest of the family. Bah!

I'm off to pack. Ticket to Greece coming your way. Taxi booked for eleventy twelfty.

Oh my. Little Boy has been cranky all.day.long. And when he isn't cranky? Its because he has a bottle in his mouth. I swear he has eaten his weight in formula today and still seems hungry. I am trying not to fret, but what the heck could be making him so hungry? He's had about 120 ml every two hours since lunch.

He just ate an hour ago but is making his 'I'm hungry' cranky noise. So not sure what to do.

Anyone have any ideas?

johnworf · 08/07/2009 20:33

tee what formula are you feeding him? He might need to go to the next milk. He sounds as though he's not being satisfied by the one you're giving him. So, if you have him on say, Cow & Gate 1, then he needs to go to 2.

He's prolly cranky cos he's saying 'mummy, that milk isn't filling me up!'

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 08/07/2009 20:33

jut keep feeding him if he wants it tee
they do this. In two weeks he will be refusing milk all day long and making you think he is ill. They seem to self regulate like this every now and then.

Tee2072 · 08/07/2009 20:34

Its cow and gate 1...too late to get any 2 today, but I can pick some up tomorrow. Isn't he a little young though?

mrsboogie · 08/07/2009 20:39

much as I hate to contradict jw I would give it a day or two tee.He is a bit young for the next milk. D did this and when I tried the next milk up it gave him constipation for days and days.

Tee2072 · 08/07/2009 20:46

That's what I am thinking mrsb. That he's just too young for the next one up. He's had a bit more now and seems to be settling.

We have an appointment for the SCBU follow up tomorrow, so if he is still eating like that tomorrow I'll speak to them about it.

johnworf · 08/07/2009 20:48

K changed her milk in SCBU when she reached a certain weight. A is quite a big baby so maybe he needs the extra in the next stage milk. I don't think it goes by age.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 08/07/2009 20:51

He seems to have settled after a little bit more from a new bottle.

I will definitely ask at baby clinic tomorrow about changing his formula.

johnworf · 08/07/2009 20:54

Yeah see what they say tee. I'm sure they'll say yay or nay

Hope he manages to give you some rest and not want milk all night

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 08/07/2009 21:00

I've just been reminded of something I've read about on here called "cluster feeding", where they feed a lot in the afternoon/early evening as a prelude to a long sleep at night. You could be THAT LUCKY tee

There were definitely times in the early weeks when D would feed every 2 hrs , then other times when he would take very little all day.

I tried the second milk when he was 16 weeks and it was too soon.

hedgepig · 08/07/2009 21:56

Well done MrD on the walking, what a very advanced boy you have MrsB Tee I just caught a bit of torchwood, a bit creepy for me . I wiykd agree with MrsB just feed him when he wants they can't overeat at this age. My boys were always the opposite I had to wake them up to feed cos they were so light and not putting on weight, ho hum. Got ollie weighed today 16lb 3oz but he has bobbed back up on his graph so nothing to worry about.

Tee2072 · 08/07/2009 22:16

Well, he's finally settled down. So I am going to do the same. DH has night duty, so I am going to go hide in the spare room and hope DH doesn't wake me because Little Man gets up every 2 hours all.night.long. Hopefully he's down for the count!!

Night all!

hedgepig · 08/07/2009 22:24

night night Tee

FloriaTosca · 08/07/2009 23:34

Iris Congratualtions! I love the names(esp the middle one obviously) I hope it all went smoothly. If you remember her, Muppets baby boy was born by CS on Mon too, 8lb 9oz Tobias.

JW So terribly sorry to read how down you are feeling...you seriously dont appear it face to face...but perhaps that just me being insensitive. If you fancy a coffee or just a pram push any morning, give me a bell. Glad you ate the lemon drizzle...if it makes you feel any better Dh didnt see much of that Banoffee you brought round here a couple of weeks ago

JJ took me a while to pick myself up off the floor when reading myself described as 'glamorous and talented', I'm sure JW had to wipe away a feel tears of mirth too. Sorry you are feeling 'mundane'...not a lot I can say to help as I'm a sahm working pt from home...mundane is my middle name.

Very envious of Arthur and Adams sleep patterns ...21 months and Alex rarely manages 4 hours at a stretch....so what am I doing still up? Night all!

iris66 · 09/07/2009 06:04

Morning all - finally we didn't get home until 10 last night (muck up with lab bloods and I was a bit too tired to post by then)

I did it!!!!! Niamh Alexandra was born by emergency CS at 1601 on 06/07/09.
jw - Happy belated Birthday

Well, I didn't do it, actually - a crack team of midwives and surgeons did because I had a cord prolapse! - it felt like I was in an episode of ER!

According to my mw friend it was a bit of a slash and grab as the prolapse was only identified because of the monitoring trace (her pulse was dipping with every contraction & then when my waters were broken it dropped to almost nothing)They couldn't see the cord until they were shoving her back up in theater where it transpired it was really long & wrapped round her body/neck and everywhere - she really was only meant to come out of the sun roof. We were so very lucky (I keep thinking about Niamh on the Jul thread who wasn't so lucky and it keeps making me cry ) - it was only by pure chance that I was being monitored anyway. I was knocked out so knew nothing until after but Niamh proved to be a real fighter - going from white, flopppy & intubated to yanking her tube out & screaming in 15 minutes! They got us there just in time and I'm so grateful. CS hurts like hell if you forget to take your painkillers (as I did last night) and I'm not liking this dependance-on-everyone-because-I-can-hardly-move malarky at all!! (so glad i'm never doing this again!)

I'll post some piccies later when I find my camera. I brought Niamh downstairs so DH could have a couple of hours kip before the boys wake. She's feeding like a good un and my milk's come in already! I'll try to catch up with the latest chat & post later.

I'm very chuffed by the way - she's gorgeous

iris66 · 09/07/2009 06:06

oh, she was 7lb 11oz (so much for all my panicking - it was obviously all water!)

Tee2072 · 09/07/2009 06:51

Morning all!

Adam apparently had a half way decent night. I personally slept from 1030 to 0600, so I feel much much better. DH is a bit wrecked, but he's gone back to bed for a few hours.

Adam has his SCBU follow up today, as I mentioned. Can't imagine it will be any big deal. Although they want to do another XRay to check his lungs. Does anyone know if a baby can have too many XRays? I will be asking them, of course!!

iris YAYAYAYA!!! Congratulations and welcome to the world Niamh! I love her name, so pretty.

mrsb good job O! He'll be running before you know it!

hedgepig that was a very creepy Torchwood. And I'm not sure what the purpose of the green spit was. Except to be gross!

JW I hope you are feeling better today.

floria sent a friends request to someone I think is you on Facebook. But maybe not

Little Man is back to sleep, so I am going to grab some breakfast while I can! Talk later!!

jeanjeannie · 09/07/2009 07:43

Morning all and Welcome back and congrats iris and the gorgeous Niamh AND on jw's birthday too!

Cor, sounds like your MW/doctors were a bit of a crack team spotting that one. I can totally identify with that- pretty much the same happened with my Iris. One minute labouring away - next they're shoving you into theatre. Now...KEEP UP WITH THOSE PAINKILLERS!! Oh and drink loads too....seems the more you pee the better you feel with a c-section, espcially an emergency one as they've been a lot rougher with you

tee sounds like classic evening cluster feeding. Now it's something to do with feeding relentlessly as they're reaching a point where they want to sleep longer but are also having a growth spurt. You get a few of them...and I think they're in about 4 week clusters for the first three months. Growth spurts are the devil's way of going "no sleep for you...!"

floria poor you and A's bonkers sleep patterns Luckily Verity is so much better at night but still an insanely early riser.

Not around much today - off swimming with the girls and MIL in Windsor - they've got a wave machine....so Iris will be like a fish! She also likes the castle so we'll walk past that as she thinks there are dragons in there. Not sure the queen counts as one of those

jeanjeannie · 09/07/2009 07:44

Oh forgot to say neddie HELLO! and happy belated birthday .... another crab!

mrsb OMG he's walking - quick, nail everything down, get the stairgates up!!

johnworf · 09/07/2009 08:23

Moaning all.

floria I'm fine, honestly. And I'm pleased that you didn't think anything was up when you came for lunch. That wouldn't have been very good would it?! Me and DH having a row over your head while you sat and ate LOL. Nah. Anyway, we've had a bit more of a chat and he's pulling his weight a bit more, which is all I wanted. He's even getting up with K everyday this week, which is lovely.

So, onto the more important news of the day - iris! Well, what a dramatic entrance into the world little Niamh had! So pleased that you are both well and safely back home. I knew you'd have her on my b'day

Hadn't realised there were so many crabby crabs on this thread (you have one now too iris ); myself, hedgepig, neddie. Lordy. It's moody central!

No plans for today. There is a M&T group this afternoon but not sure if DS#2 is landing.

tee hope that A settles a bit more for you today

mrsb you got that lad some shoes yet?

JJ is MiL going to hunt for an icy lake around Windsor and launch the girls into it?

dawn I sent friends request on FB. Lisa Stell is me (takes off her fake glasses and moustache that is attached).

iris Congratulations on your new arrival! i had a section too and yes dont forget to take those tablets! love your daughter's name. so so pretty. wish i got a little girl! i got 2 boys! bless them.

tee my LO has feed at 6pm and then again at 8pm and then again at 10.30-11pm. then he sleeps the whole night till around 7-7.30am. so just give him as much milk as he wants. i agree that he is prob too young for the heavier milk. how many weeks is he? from 6 months there is this fab milk - Hipp organic good night milk. it has added cereals in it so heavier and is for use at night only.

mrsboogie · 09/07/2009 10:23

morning all

Two bits of hurrah'ness from Camp snotterfest here: 1) D slept from 9.30 last night until 8.30 this morning!! how's about that eh? I had a whole night's sleep!! Feel great even though I have a cold! and 2) to celebrate feeling a bit thinner I am wearing a v short dress with some leggings from D Perkins which are made to look like skinny jeans. Quite comfy and flattering and some stilletto ankle boots. Feeling quite glam and v far removed from my usual frumpness.

DP keeps making rude comnents (about the boots)

floria keep meaning to send you a friends request also. Have seen your pic on jw's FB and you are indeed glamarous. Also love your glam name! I have an image in my head of you as v posh totty!

congrats again iris and beautiful name! thought it must have ended in a c/s whan all went quiet for so long. Glad all was well in the end and the little lady is none the worse for her excitign entry into the world. Too many entries to the world seem to be of the excting kind!

have a lovely day all!

johnworf · 09/07/2009 10:35

OOOOOOOOoooh mrsb Let's throw a party for the sleeping boy! All that tottering knackered him out

It's great buying and wearing new clothes that make you feel glam isn't it? I'd say that was praps the best result from losing weight Btw, are we going to be hearing that you're in the club again soon due to wearing of seductive boots that OH can't keep away from? LOL.

K got DH up at 7am this morning. She went back to bed and she's still asleep and it's 10.30 now. She's either going through a growth spurt or she's coming down with something. She never sleeps this long in the mornings.

Just put This Morning on. Don't normally watch it and notice that Fearne is looking a bit haggard today. Not sure if this is how she is normally but either she's having no sleep or she's lost too much weight and it's not suiting her.

Off into Manchester later to buy more new teats as she's bitten through the ones I have. No one round here has Dr Browns so have to go and find them in the big shops
