First Pregnancy - can anyone explain this ache?

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can put my mind at rest as GP appointment is not for a few days yet.

Found out last week that I am expecting no.1.

During the 2WW I experienced a dull ache/warm feeling on the right side of my lower abdomen after ov. I was pleased as hoped this meant success so I spent the usual dreaded wait feeling quietly confident! However, now that I have my BFP, I'm worried that this could be a problem rather than something normal as I think I expected it to just disappear once pg had been confirmed! The ache becomes more like AF pains across my entire lower stomach during the afternoons/evenings. There are no cramps or shooting pains but I've terrified myself by reading too many websites with ectopic pregnancy symptoms.

First day of my last period was 12th May so I think the Doctors will say I'm 5 weeks but obviously that's really only 2.5 ish.

Period type pains are very common, it is just your uterus stretching and expanding. nothing to worry about.

obviously if it gets worse or very painful then I would ring GP for some advice.

first thing is do NOT read on the websites about the aches that you cud be having or otherwise it will mess up your head...keep away from them! and second thing it cud be implantation...how long have u had the ache now?

ALl I can say is that I had so many aches and pains in early pregnancy and they ALAL seem to have been ligaments stretching.

In fact, the reason why I found out I was pregnant is because I went to the GP to have my unexplained pains explained.

After that I did go another time to check if the pains I was getting were normal. They were.

I should think it's something like that but go in and get an emergency appointment if you think it is something worse.

i remember i had the aches for weeks and it was just my uterus stretching to make ready for the baby to grow

Might have been the movement down fallopian tube/implantation. I had pain for about 5 days then spotting. Turned out to be implatation bleed

Obviously if it gets worse speak to someone, but if it's gone away, I would count it as feeling the normal changes going on inside and consider yourself lucky to have felt it happening

No, OP said she felt it within the 2 weeks after ovulation, so would have been the right time for implantation at that time.

I always thought that I wouldn't get paranoid but looks like my stay calm strategy hasn't worked!

Biglips - you are SO right. As soon as I read the sites, I knew I shouldn't have! Anyway, from all the reading I've done, was convinced Mumsnet members would give me well needed talking to. Will now stay try and stay away from scary websites!

Will ask Doctor at appointment but from your comments, don't think I need to worry about any urgent attention before then.
