Old wives tales for telling the sex of a baby

Hi all I just wondered if anyone had and old wives tales to determine the sex of a baby, the way you are carrying etc
I know its all probably a load of rubbish but just wondered as I have three boys already and this pregnancy has been totally different

My MIL swears that the shape of my bump means that this one is a boy. We don't want to find out till the birth, so will have to wait till November to see if she's right!

I read somewhere that if you crave sweet things its a girl, and savoury its a boy... i ate lots of chocolate and had a boy

Also dont laugh but if pregnancy gives you super hairy legs its a boy again.

Heartbeats - if lower than 140 at rest a boy, higher than 140, a girl.

One of my mw's told me this and said she usually found it to be right. She predicted correctly a boy with ds when everyone else was convinced it was a girl.

my scan showed im having a girl and already have 2 boys,

boys was:
little bit sick
craved savory things
bumps all round middle
hair grew really quick

This one due 14th July:
very sick thew up every night for 16 weeks
craving soooo much chocolate and ice lollys
bump all out front cant tell from back
hair growth really slow

Don't think you can tell by the shape of bump, both pregnancies my bump has been exactly the same shape - first baby was a girl and this one will be a boy.

hi nicky - if you google baby gender you'll find loads of old wives tales.

I have 2 boys and just found out we are having a girl and I have been much sicker this time round.

But as for the bump carrying - it is totally the same this time for me as it was with the boys!

It's all very random and no help whatsoever

I have heard the one about the heart beat rate - fast means a girl and slower means a boy.

No one told DS and DD that though

I'm a wife, and am also quite old, so my tale is: sweet cravings for a girl & savoury for a boy.

When I was about 6 months pregnant a friend had her baby. She told me that she'd had to stop being a veggie during her pregnancy as all she craved was a big thick slab of meat - the craving was so bad, her opinions on meat eaters went out of the window & she stuffed herself with red meat. She had a boy.

During my pregnancy, the thought of any meat just turned my stomach (and I normally adore a nice medium rare ribeye steak!). I craved lots and lots of fruit, chocolate, anything sweet. I had a girl.

Ah, just to turn that around though rindercella, this pg I have craved meat, saltly food and cheese enourmously.

Sweet things have, especially chocolate have made me queasy.

This is my first girl

i'm a veggie and i've succombed to chicken, lots of it, and lots of very sweet things. I dont know the gender of my babe......

As with cravings - I wanted to eat only fruit when pregnant with DD, didn't even think about chocolate/bisquits/cakes. Now pregnant with DS and guess what I'm eating? - At least 10 portions of fruit a day
So no 'rules' there either

I craved both fruit and sweets with my last 2 and they were both girls. No difference on bump shape. I couldn't eat a fried breakfast no matter how many times I tried, it just came back up again even though I had no normal sickness with my girls. It seemed they only chucked back the things they dont want.

Now my 10 year old girl eats all fruit and sweet things and is a bit fussy. My 10 month girl eats everything and I mean everything...even spicy food. lol

This one I am not really craving anything just not wanting any thing chocolatly or fruity. This time I can eat a fried brekky and not throw it up. I crave for big sausages and really heavy meaty produce. But hey I craved meat at different times of my previous pregnancis when my body was low on iron. So this could be the cause of cravings....when your body needs something not whether it is a boy/girl. Buy hey we shall find out soon.

Well I think I am going to have a girl for several reasons based on old wives tales. My bump is all at the front, I haven't gained that much weight elsewhere.

The needle and thread test suggests it will be a girl and I have done that test several times.

Also if the sweet/savory cravings theory is true than it will definately be a girl as I have had a sweet craving throughout this pregnancy.

But then of course all girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice.

My two pregnancies were exactly the same - size & shape of bump, sickness pattern, cravings etc - my SIL even dangled a crystal over my bump and it did the same thing both times

I have a boy and a girl.
