Car crash at 5 wk prgnant

Had an accident in car today. Hit from behind and got whiplash. Thankfully daughter abs fine but 5 weeks prey. All seems ok but got to go to early assessment clinic. What are they likely to do? Will I be able to go back to work after appt.

Not much they can do at 5 weeks really, I know they're reluctant to scan before 7 weeks as the chances of seeing anything are pretty slim then. Will more than likely just be some questions about pain/bleeding etc.

You need to get to your GP; one of the guys in my team had a similar accident last week and the quicker you can be referred for physio the better, was his GP's advice.

Personally I would stay at home today if I were you. Although I know it's particularly difficult for a teacher to phone in sick at short notice.

Glad to hear everyone is okay, don't underestimate the whiplash though.

I always feel so guilty about work. But worried about doing more damage.

The worst thing about whiplash is that it takes a number of days for the pain to come on, so you can feel relatively okay today but as you say may do further damage because you don't yet know which bits are going to hurt the worst. My guy is in a lot of pain now (and his accident was last Wednesday) and has to do neck exercises every hour

I seriously would see if your GP can see you today. How difficult would it be for the school to cover your lessons?

I have an appointment that is quite important and worried more about that. Feel may try and struggle in today and then see how doing tomorrow.

agree with tribpot - whiplash can be awful, even if you feel OK now, it can have long-lasting (as in months and years) affects. please go to your GP.

Whiplash is agony and cant get GP appt. Can I take anything else in pregnancy other than paracetomol?

I was hit from behind at 12 weeks pregnant (just before my scan date, and all was well, babies are well-protected). I didn't get whiplash, was just shaken up and my muscles ached for a few days. On the advice of my insurance company I put in a personal injury compensation claim and was awarded two thousand pounds which will come in very handy when the baby is born.

If you haven't already contacted a solicitor (my insurance company sorted it all out for me), it is something worth considering.
