Just found out last week that im pregnant, but i have been on venlafaxine for the last couple of years, i havent stopped taking it because i was told it'd be ok, but now someone has said its bad bad bad to take during pregnancy! does anyone know??

I've just checked my BNF dated 2006 and yes, pregnancy is a contra indication but the appendix states that the "manufacturer advises avoid enless potential benefit outweighs risk and that there may be withdrawal effecrs in neonate" . I'm not a doctor but I know that just stopping these medicines is not advisable so please do not stop but see your GP to get advice on what to do... don't worry about this, GPs are used to helping in this situation! and congratulations!!!

Just checked a 2008 version of the BNF and it says the same. See your GP early next week and discuss it for stopping taking it.
