I'm prbably being totally neurotic here.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant at the moment but I gave birth to a 13 week old foetus in January.

I've been getting some feelings of pressure (down there) and the only thing I can liken it to is the feeling I had when I was giving birth to the last baby.

I'm worried that falling pregnant so quickly hasn't given my body time to recover/prepare.

A friend mentioned about having a weak cervix and having a stich put in - I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this and if the feelings I'm having sound like what would happen.

TIA

I had a cone biopsy years ago and when I lost my first baby at 21 weeks one of the possibilities was an incompetent cervix. I was given an internal scan at around 23 weeks to measure how long the cervix was and also to check it out as I had been feeling lots of pressure there only to see on the scan that the pressure was probably baby as he was seen kicking my cervix for the whole time!

Hi, I came across mumsnet when I started googling about a weak and open cervix. Brief summary, I was pregnant at 5 mths in 2010. I had some stomach pains , went into A&E and then found out I had to have an emergency appendix operation. Had the op but then m/c afterwards. Had to hv a D &C afterwards aswell. I just turned 40 and was v upset as it was my first pregnancy. After 6mths I became pregnant again, naturally :)
However after a routine check around 16/20 wks, my consultant said it wld be a gd idea to hv an internal scan of my cervix as I'd had a late m/c the yr before in the 2nd tri/m. Well he then forgot to put the scan request thro but I remembered and chased it up - I was 24 weeks then. At that time (24wks) I had the scan and was informed my cervix was open and funnelling - with a threat of a pre term delivery! 24 wks was a shock , had 2 painful steroid injections to strengthen the babies lungs! Then was advised that at24 wks, it was too late for the Certulege Stitch and that there was a risk of putting the stitch in so late - it's best to put the stitch in early round the 1 trimester.
I was put on a course of daily progesterone pessaries called Cyclogest and hoped for the best:) Can come off these at 34/35 wks. I got a lot of hope and encouragement thro reading all the threads on open, weak, funnelling cervixes. It was awful counting down the days and weeks from 24wks. Well I'm at 34weeks now and the cervix had held out - so it can be done as the measurements can go up or down.
Main recommendations - 1) Always ask about getting an internal scan of your cervix if you've had a m/c or D & C, 2) Get this done early for the stitch op. 3) The stitch isn't 100% proof but has a v gd record of working. 4) The progesterone works but also rest and get regular cervix scans so you can keep a track of the cervix measurements, 5) Be careful and mindful that piles may develope - get some creams in beforehand! 6) Have faith you can get past 34 wks as I did even throu it's been a rollacoster.
7) Good luck :)
