Pain when sneezing..?

I may well be panickng about nothing, but its my first pregnancy so..!

Firstly, I seem to be sneezing an awful lot. I don't think its hay fever, because its just sneezing - I don't feel bunged up, or have sore eyes or anything. But I'm sneezing for England.

When I do, I occassionally get quite a painful stabbing pain in my left side, under my bump. Should I go to my doctors / talk to my midwife? Or is it just because my stomach can't contract when I sneeze like its used to doing?

Know this must sound really odd, but have been a bit worried, and any responces would be really appriciated. Thanks!

I get this occasionally when I sneeze - It's not anything to worry about - like you say, your stomach muscles are more stretched than usual. I find if I 'brace myself' before I sneeze/when I feel a sneeze coming it helps (i.e. hold on to something or stand still & slightly bend knees)

Hope this helps! (It's even more annoying when your pelvic floors are as rubbish as mine are now but that's a whole 'nother story! )

Yes I managed to strain my ribs sneezing. The chiro said if you need to sneeze try to lean back against a wall or something so the pressure is less.

Totally normal don't worry.

Me too. "AchoooooohhhhBASTARD!" is what happens here! I hold the bump in, and that seems to help.

I've had terrible sneezing problems. For me it's when I eat something when I'm hungry, a weird reflex. But also you have more blood to your muscous membranes (including the nose) when pregnant so it's more sensitive. It was worst early on when I had MS as well, but now at 31 weeks I still get it if I forget to eat regularly.

I must confess I just giggled. I must try adding BASTARD onto the end of a sneeze - will entertain me at least.

I have heartburn for the first time tonight. Not impressed.
