Hello.....can sleeping on your tummy during the first few weeks of pregnancy harm the baby?

I slept on my tummy until it was really too uncomfortable (I was about 13 weeks). Was most disappointed to discover that engorged boobs and strange hollow-feeling tummy meant that sleeping on my front in the week after DS was born was impossible! I'd been looking forward to it

But I perservered and have slept on my front again since

i was told if you can sleep on your tummy comfortably then do it. if your still comfy to do it then your not big enough for it to be unsafe

This is my favourite sleeping position and did it til prob about 15-16 weeks preg. Back to it once my boobs had settled with b/f!!

I found sleeping on my tummy really uncomfortable whilst pregnant - baby used to kick the hell out of me. Not sure about the doing you any harm bit though. I wouldn't have thought so.
Now I'm not pregnant I do find it very enjoyable to sleep that way - guess it's because I couldn't do it for all that time.

Its too early to see if im preg or not. will have to wait another week, but if I am (and I feel like I am!!!) I dont want to hurt the potential baby.

Anna, if you are pregnant (fingers crossed!), your baby's still well down in your pelvis so sleeping on your tummy won't hurt it.

but wouldnt it squash the foetus?

No it won't harm the foetus in any way - go ahead if you are comfortable sleeping like that!

hunkermunker - at least sleeping on my front it hides my elephant testicles!

I really want a baby and if I might even be preg, I dont wanna do anything to harm it! I will let you all know if I come on my period or not around the 13th!

I know what you mean - I remember having my appendix out and wondering if I'd split my stitches if I slept on my tummy! Did it though (after about five days!) - am a hardened tummy sleeper, even though I know it's probably bad for my back - lol! It's SO comfy! Going to do it now, in fact

Hope you sleep well tonight
