Need for a full bladder for scan at 23 weeks?

Just wondering if a half full bladder will do. This is my '20 week' scan so I am really hoping I got a standard letter. I have a possible one hour motorway drive to the hospital. When I'm nervous I have to go to the loo really often so dread scans for this reason alone I'm not so good when I'm not nervous either.

Will probably try to get some much needed sleep soon so will check back in the morning.

I had a scan last week at 16 weeks and didn't have/need a full bladder, not sure if you need one for the 20 week scan. Why not just sip water in the car and then have a bit more when you get there, they are always running late anyway.

I just had my 20 week scan at 21 weeks, I only had a couple of glasses of water in the 2 hours I'd been awake that morning and had visited the toilet before the scan. There was no problem with it at all

You don't need a full bladder by this stage as your uterus is up out of your pelvis. At the 12 week scan it is still low in your pelvis and needs the boost of a full bladder to push it it.

Just to let you know I had an extra scan recently at 31 weeks and the lady advised if possible to have at least something in the bladder as it makes it easier to see the placenta in case it is lying low - I had only just been to the loo so am back in a few weeks for another scan (got to have one for GD anyway) and she said to try to arrive a little early and have a big drink when you get there. I am in a similar position in that we live and hour from the hospital so no way can I make it holding on at this stage!! xxx

Thank you Beccabump . I will do that I think. Never been to this hospital before so will be aiming to get there early anyway. Think I've been slotted in as an extra lunchtime appt so hopefully won't have to wait too long.
