Hi, I am a newbie here. This is my first baby and my EDD is 7th October I am 20 + 6 today.

I discovered at 17 weeks that I have two fibroids. I am 33 and have never had any sign that I had these fibroids previously. The only reason they were picked up were because the big one (12cm on discovery) started causing a problem and extreme pain. I was admitted to hospital for 5 days to monitor and provide pain relief (pethidine).

Since then it has caused me daily discomfort but nothing I have to take painkillers for. I have regular scans (every 3 weeks) to monitor. At this mornings scan it measured 17cm in length(Baby measures 18cm!)..

I have been told that it may cause further problems as it grows (the fibroid not the baby!)and could lead to baby being delivered early by CS. They can do nothing to it now or until the baby is born.

I have an appt with consultant to discuss this next week but am worried.. Has anyone else had this problem and had an uncomplicated 3rd Trimester/birth ?

Thanks..

My mother had this problem but her fibroid started shrinking due to the 3rd trimester hormones. My sister was born by emcs at 35 weeks but that was due to pre eclampsia was allowed home after a week no further complications to her or baby's health.

Hi 27 + 3 here . I have two massive fibroids on the outside of my uterus. One is a liter in size and like a big mushroom , the other is 14 cm in size.Babys fine so far. I had hyperememis which may or may not be linked . They found my fibroids cos they misdiagnosed them as an ovarian cyst about to burst and gave me a laparatomy. I have had hyperememsis too so it's been a jolly first pregnancy so far. IME the NHS consultant has told me nothing I couldn't glean from the internet in the early days. I asked about CS at the last antenatal appoinment and was told it would be really decided right at the last minute. I have been given a scan at 28 weeks next week as my fundal height can't be measured accurately. Im a very peculiar shape bump wise lying down.I'm getting another at 34 weeks becuse my placenta is lying low.related ? no idea I can't really get any answers from anyone. A junoir doc told me last week I was lucky to get pregnant at 35 with them even though (she was unaware of course) I got pregnant last novemeber the first time I tried. The consultant who did my laparatomy told me my ovaries were fine and dandy. Someone else told me I will have a challenging pregnancy I have given up asking becuse everyone I have seen has a different opinon. My have stopped growing but they cuase me discomfort as they degenerate. I control the pain with co-codamol and paracetmol. Supposed to stop co-codamol at 36 weeks and try not to take it too often cos it makes you constipated.
Would love to know what will happen at the birth but am continuing with the wait and see approach. It depends I think a lot with where the fibroid is positioned. The fibroids should shrink as the placenta takes over and the blood supply gets cut off ( red degeneration) but I was told too they could get bigger. I was also told I could a I could miscarry or have a premature birth early on but thank god that hasn't happened so far. I really can understand what you are going through. Keep asking questions and take each day as it comes x my baby is kicking away now as I speak - DH jokes he uses the fibroids as a punchbag and will be a boxer! plus I can't tell really any more what's ligament pain, general pregnancy aches and pains or the fibroid being pushed out the way by my uterus. If i get anymore nfo I'll post again

I should also add I had no idea I had these massive fibroids when I decided to try for a baby. I had no abnormal periods or anything like that. The biggie which could be felt if pressed on my abdomen I had put down to the start of middle aged flab and too much rioja and crisps.
