Can you hear babies heartbead with a normal stethoscope?

Is that a dozy question? I'm so paranoid i havent felt baby move for a day or two - but I'm only 16weeks so I'm well aware that its probably just cos its so small and that the occasions I do feel it move are a rarity more than the norm. I lent my doppler to a friend - this always reassured me last time - so havent got this until she returns it!
Have my 16wk check on Weds so I was just going to ask GP if she can check for me?

Yes you can. I am not sure that it as sensitive as a sonicaid - so it may not be possible with a stethoscope at 16wks.

16wks is very early to feel movment (many people don't even start to feel movement until closer to 18wks+). It may be that for the last few days baby has been in a very favourable position - and now it has moved and you just can't feel it.

I am sure all is fine.

thanks PP for reassurance. Yeah I know its early - I didn't feel DS till way later, but I know the movements are definately baby.

I've been quite anxious this time and I'm having this battle in my head with 'sensible lynniep' and 'paranoid lynniep'.

Sensible is just about winning - which is why I'm not ringing the mw in a panic and just waiting till I see the GP on Weds

I wasn't sayong it wasn't baby moving. What I was trying to say is that baby was probably in a position which was good for feeling movement but now (s)he has moved which is why you aren't feeling movement now.
