I am due this week . I have been pg 5 times before with my first I went overdue I was induced at 37 weeks with DD's 1&2 and went into labour myself at 38 and 39+1 with DD's 2&4.

So this baby seems in no rush to come out and I am getting fed up am losing lots of discharge and have very strong pains most mornings .

Last night I sat on the birthing ball for a couple of hours and started having awful pains which lasted for about an hour then when I got up and walked round they fizzled out .

Baby still feels quite high up in my notes it says baby is head down 3/5 palpable and long lie (which I am assuming means back to back ) .

I know every birth is different am just sick of been in what I feel is labour then it just stopping I do not have a UTI that was last week all is clear and good .

Could also do with baby coming now soon so that dp can have half term week off and I have a good excuse for been in bed all week !

Hi comewhinewithme, i know exactly how you feel. Im 38 weeks and just want it out now! This is also my 6th child. Apparantly this babies head isnt at all engaged yet and sitting at the brim, i feel alot more uncomfortable this time, i am having alot of braxton hicks and achey pains, but think it is more that im so constipated rather than anything else. Have you tried all the recommended things to try and make you go into established labour (not that they will prob work anyway). I really hope something happens for you very soon. Best of luck.

Long lie is TRANSVERSE no? That's fun

Maybe he isn't ready yet...lovely time of year for it, mine was born 6 yrs ago at 4.50am!!!

NationalFlight · 24/05/2009 08:13

Oh God no panic not, appARENTLY IT is vertical NOT transverse, so that is GOOD

Comewhinewithme · 24/05/2009 10:46

Flight thanks for almost starting me off @ transverse !!

Ebeson Tried everthing spicy food ,sex ,bouncing on that bloody ball and even had the breast pump on she just does not want to shift .

Good luck with rest of PG I know as soon as this one is born I will be missing my bump and jealous of ladies with lovely huge bumps . It is so easy to forget about the heartburn ,cankles and backache isn't it?

I think long lie is the best positon for a baby to be in I think it means head down facing the right way hope that makes you feel better.

long lie is longitudinal lie (so opposit eof transverse.

You can get longitudinal lie with vertex/cephalic presentation (head down) or with breech presentation (bum down).

Then you get positions so
Occiput anterior (OA - can be right or left OA) is back of the head to the front.

Occiput posterior (OP/ROP/LOP) is back of the head to the back (so back to back)

Occiput transverse (ROT/LOT) is back of the head to the right or left side.

eg. DS was lie: longitudinal
presentation: cephalic (vertex)
Position:ROA.

Not really the answer you were after (ie why is it taking so long!) but HTH.
