Pregnancy insomnia

I am 21 weeks and waking up at 4am every night for a couple of hours, just getting sleepy again as it's time to get up. I've noticed that the baby is moving a lot when I'm awake but I don't think the movement is actually waking me. In some weird way is my body responding to the baby's bodyclock, so I am waking when he/she does? More to the point, is there anything I can do about it, I'm knackered!

Hey, I'm another insomniac! I'm afraid I don't really know what to do about it but I'm knackered of being knackered. I find the sleep deprivation very tough to deal with.

I am 17 weeks and most of the I time I have woken up at between 3am to 4am. Sickness has not yet subsided.

I try coping by getting in for 9am for work and working later (I work long hours but luckily my commute is around 40 minutes).

Where possible I have taken a couple of holidays when I can so I can lie around.

As to my coping strategies, I got given some relaxation type cd's, I know if sound a bit yoga new age but sometimes they can be smoothing and i find them good to play. I also bought some english dramas on dvd, like mansfield park and put them on and then eventually I fall back to sleep.

Take Care

It's horrible... another sufferer here.
I can get to sleep no problem but am waking in the wee small hours and can take until 5-6am to get back to sleep.
It's making me very irritable.

The only thing that seems to help is a short power nap during the day (I never get one, due to toddler demands!). Also I have to go to bed at 9pm these days.

If I do have a good night, you can be sure DD will pick that one to have nightmares and insomnia herself!
