i had one with my 2nd pregnancy 12hrs before they were delivered (twins)

Blossomhill · 05/05/2005 19:06

Yes I did with my ds . He was 2 weeks early and I woke up at 5am with a show. My mum told me to go back to bed as it was almost unheard of for a first baby to be early. Ds arrived the next day He is 7 now!

QueenEagle · 05/05/2005 19:06

I had a show the day after I had a membrane sweep with my 4th. Had him 4 days later.

hunkermunker · 05/05/2005 19:14

Didn't have a show at all. Waters broke at the start of labour and no show. I have no idea what happened to it. I'm absent-minded, but I'd been looking forward to it (I'm odd...!) and I still feel cheated...

velcrobott · 05/05/2005 19:18

As I understand it you can loose your plug/show days before with a 1st baby but usually the delay isn't so long between show and labour with a 2nd baby.
I had both my shows in labour.

hunkermunker · 05/05/2005 19:30

Nothing at all, VB, in the weeks before DS was born.

Frizbe · 05/05/2005 19:46

Yes when I was 6cm dilated! I remember thinking, oh a show, about time too, as I doubled over with the next contraction.....

Louise1980 · 05/05/2005 19:50

I had one at 38 weekson friday. I went into hosp as I had braxton hicks and wasnt sure if I was in labour or not. Told it could be early labour but as Id has sex the night before they said it could have caused a show. Labour started on the following wednesday.

Lonelymum · 05/05/2005 19:53

I only had a show once, with the third of my four babies. It happened twice, once the night before and once in the morning that dd was born - she came along in the evening.

Rachey1969 · 06/05/2005 10:43

I've only ever had a show with my 3rd. It appeared the day I woke up to be induced! I had dilated a little when they examined me but they induced me anyway and I went from 3 to 8 com in about 40mins! Unfortunately I then had to wait about 6 hrs because she was a face presentation and we had to take it slowly - the epidural was lovely though! I am a convert.

bubbles2904 · 06/05/2005 18:02

hi,i had a show at the start of my labour and the mw had to break my waters for me 1 hour later, my daughter was born 6 hours later

Flossam · 06/05/2005 18:09

I had a few. I thought I might have had one at about 36 weeks I think. Went to ante natal day and learnt all about them at 37 weeks, that they can happen up to a couple of weeks before labour, decided I must have got it wrong. Also was a bit suspicious when she talked about the bowel movements, I was going about 5 times a day at that point! Wasn't wrong though, DS arrived the next week!

Tommy · 06/05/2005 19:33

I had one all day with DS2 from getting up (about 7am) He was born at 11.10pm. Contractions didn't start until 9pm though.

janeybops · 06/05/2005 19:47

Heathcliffscathy · 06/05/2005 19:54

lilsmum · 06/05/2005 20:58

yes i did, AFTER my waters popped! work that one out

mumfor1sttime · 07/05/2005 00:41

I had show 3 days before I went into labour, looks jellyish and light pink. I was told it doesnt always mean onset of labour.

BiLuminous · 22/10/2021 21:23

No. 3 children and no show. Waters only popped 5 mins before born too.

Lullaby88 · 22/10/2021 21:43

I had mine 2 days before child birth along with braxton that merged into real contractions.

thingymaboob · 22/10/2021 21:51

I had mine 3 weeks (38 weeks) before I was induced. It was like a tennis ball size of very hard / sticky / bloody snot. I was amazed by it, it was huge!

fallhappy1 · 22/10/2021 21:54

Yes with both pregnancies. I was in established labour both times and on the labour ward.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 22/10/2021 21:54

No show or Braxton Hicks with either of mine 🤷‍♀️
