Am I Pregnant

I am 31 yrs old and think I maybe pregnant with my 4th. I have been waking up drenched in sweat the last few nights. I am feeling sick and have a headache in the day. I have gone off my brerakfast and smells get to me. I have been having the low cramps and last night in bed my breasts hurt when I layed on them. I have been extremely tired for the last week and a half and have backache.

I did a test tuersday and it was positive but the lines where very light. I did a test yesterday and it was negative. I saw the doctor today about something different and mentioned it to her and she said my hormone levels are probably too low that is why it didn't show properly an to wait till monday and give a sample in.

I usually have my period every 21-25 days. Today is day 28. I am hardly ever late unless it is down to illness or medication. Which it isn't in this case.

With my 3rd pregnancy I wasn't late but had some of the above symptoms (minus the sweats)so I did a test and 1 of them was negative so did another and that one was positive. I only get period cramps the day I come on but I have had these for a few days.

So at the moment I am confused. My partner doesn't want anymore but he still won't use anything.

Has anyone else experienced this.

you are probably pregnant then , aren;t you

i'd be more worried about your partner, who does not want more children but won't use contraception

best time to test is in the morning, with your first wee of the day, but if you are already late, tehn you should get an accurate result anytime.

MerlinsBeard · 21/05/2009 12:38

You know that you could use contraception if you and your partner can't agree on anymore

the only things that will tell you if you are pregnant or not are a test - test again in a few day it may be too early, a scan or your period.

I have tried contraception in the past. I can't have the coil, the depo makes me really ill and I fell pregnant with my 3rd on it. With 3 kids already I can't be trusted to remember the pill. I asked to be sterilised after my 3rd but said I was too young. I told him he should get the snip then but he won't.

I did the other tests in morning, think I will wait a few more days.

This is my 1st time on this site.

welcome to mumsnet.

i think you should test again, see what happens and then eitehr way, you need a big talk with your partner

he has to accpet that unprotected sex can result in a pregnancy, and if you cannot tolerate contraception, he has to take responsibility

what about condoms?

Are you kidding?
I would think having 3 kids and a partner who deosn't want any more is a damn good reason to remember to take the pill

Thanks Lulumama. We have a draw full of them. From now on he isn't coming near me. I will try another in a few days.

To littlelamb you don't know me but when you are up to your eyes with a child with adhd and a 10 mth at the time but now 1yr old in and out of hospital every week it is easy to forget to take the pill.

If this is how you get treated on this site I won't bother in future.

I'm not being rude. I just don't understand why, if you don't want another baby, you don't take responsibility for your own fertility

Lulumama · 21/05/2009 13:01

well, if you are alreayd pregnant, it is a bit late.. i thikn you need to find out for sure what is waht, and then if you are pregnant, hopefully he will step up to the plate

good luck

Lulumama · 21/05/2009 13:02

i do agree with littlelamb though

especially as it sounds as though you are extremely busy with 3 young children anyway, and there is already a lot of stress in your life

you can take responsibility or simply abstain !

In defence of daniied13 in an ideal world taking a pill every morning should be pretty easy but it isnt an ideal world and its accepted that its easy to forget and the pill doesnt suit everyone - hence why there are alternatives available... just becuase one person remembers to take the pill every morning i dont see why everyone else is expected to. When i was on the pill, with no children and a hectic routine involved with work i missed alot of my pills - maybe you should talk to your gp or practise nurse once you know if u r pegnant or not...there is a contraceptive patch available now as well..

anyway good luck - mine was negative a number of times before i got the positive - i guess it might be too early like you doctor said the hormone levels are prob too low
