Hi All,

I'm now 13 + 5 and I AM SPOTTY!

I was quite a spotty teen and used to be on the pill, dianette, for spottiness.

However, before i got pregnant my skin was looking pretty good - now it is awful worse than ever.

I obviously can't go back on dianette, but was wondering if anyo one on here can recommend a product/medication/anything that will help with my spottiness?

Thanks in advance

I have had bad skin for the past 16 years (I am 26) and have just about learnt to control it to a bit oily and only the few spots every now and again. I am also 32 weeks but luckily my skin has just stayed the same through pregnancy.

However here are a few tips:

water drink loads- you'll get more and more thirsty through your pregnancy so it should be easy

antibacterial hand gel really works- not on your spots but if you think about how much you subconsciously touch yor face through the day you wont realise it but you're actually spreading them

t tree is really good - boots do a great foaming face wash and moisturiser- if you don't moisturise you'll just over produce oil

exfoliate a few times a week as well

Resist the temptation to hide behind hair / loads of make up 24/7 as your skin needs time to breathe, however, you can get loads of oil free makeup products which don't make the situation worse and actually help.

Unfortunatley it is the hormones which create the grease / oil but on the plus side - you're far less likley to develop streatch marks!

Duac once daily gel is great, i used it through pregnancy on advice from GP. Is prescription only so you will have to see doc but, on the plus side, you wont have to pay! YAY!

Congrats and good luck

fatandiknowit, I could have written your post!!

I was on Dianette from the age of 24 until I came off the pill in April last year (aged 34) to give myself some months before starting to TTC.

After years of still having spots when I was having my 7 day break from Dianette monthly, suddenly, April, May, June, July and August last year I was completely clear and thinking that Dianette had finally worked. In September, I found out I was PG and lo and behold, spots!!!

They weren't REALLY bad on my face, but my chest and back were pickled in them!!

I asked the GP if there was anything I could do. He said that I could use something topical so I bought myself some PANOXYL AQUAGEL that worked really well. You can either get Gel or Cream and it comes in 3 different strengths, 2.5, 5.0 or 7.5. You just use it on the affected areas once a day.

I would start with the lower strength one first. You can buy it over the counter in a Chemist.

Hope this helps and by the way, mine eventually cleared up, but not until about 22 weeks PG...

xxx
