Can you miscarry squeezing for a poo - bit tmi

I know that sounds like a stupid question but had 2 mcs last year, early scans showed there was a bleed site just above the embryo, and the danger was of the bleed site in womb getting worse and wiping out the embryo (at this time i wasent bleeding from down below). Now both times my bleeding started (the beginning of the miscarriage) was when i had been squeezing to have a poo - just wondering if it is possible to have made the bleed site in womb bigger by squeezing subsequently causing me to miscarry?

I am now pregnant again and needless to say am eating lots of bran and fruit and veg and fresh orange juice, but everytime i go for a number 2 i am worried sick. Any advice or is this a silly thought

No you can't

Relax my love, this time will be fine !

I had IBS when i was PG and that would have been more than enough to have dislodged the baby of that were possible, i spent hours on the toilet.. felt like labour actually baby stuck though. I've had mcs too, i know where your coming from but try to out it to the back of your mind and don't panic poo

I know it sounds silly but suppose am just tryin to think of a reason mc happened cos terrified of it happening again x

It doesn't sound silly atall, it's a perfectly logical train of thought but most pregnant women get sooo constipated when they are pregnant that if straining for a poo cold cause miscarriages then there woudl be a lot more of them i bet.

TMI ALERT ! I always find when i start my period that they quite often come with a poo, must be the pressure or something, i dunno

It's to do with the hormones, Worzsel - hormone changes affect consistency/frequency.

Hi, I have had awful constipation for the last week, I am even off work with it as am in agony through the night and not getting any sleep. If straining made you miscarry, I certainly wouold have by now. Just keep up with the high fibre and fluid in your diet to keeping you 'moving'.

Congratulations by the way

funtimewincies · 20/05/2009 10:18

No, you can't (from one who has had 3 mcs, is now 13 weeks pg and asked this very question at the mc clinic), breathe calmly and try not to gibber in the corner.

As Kyte says, it's likely that squeezing just makes the flow a little faster at first.

Good luck and everything crossed that this one sticks .

dried/semi-dried prunes - they are the business!
good luck

Ohwhatacrapmasfear · 20/05/2009 13:24

On the subject of prunes, how many do you need to eat to get things moving and how quickly does it work? Am desperate - would rather have diarrhea (sp?) than the pain this constipation is giving me at the moment.
Sorry for hijack.

another vote for fybogel. also comes in zingy lemon flavour. Make it up in fruit juice and water mixed, and you might not even gag on it
I also sprinkled linseed on my porridge. Ah, memories.

Thanks ladies for not making me feel stupid.

Funtimewincies how far along were you with your pregnancy when you mc and were they in a row. I am trying not to stress to much and keep very calm about it all x

I had 3 in a row after ds, one mmc found at the dating scan and 2 bleeds before 8 weeks.

All tests came back normal and we were advised that it was probably just really bad luck. Fingers crossed, it looks like the tide has turned for us .

How far are you? Don't overdo the prunes - I had a couple too many when I tried them and the results were...erm...explosive .

I found out I was pregnant yesterday and it is my first time, I dont know anyone that has been pregnant that I have been close to and things certainly seem to have changed a bit since mum was pregnant with me!! I am suffering with constipation, but also getting light pains with it, they feel a bit like the pains you get when you have diarrohea or constipation. It is probably just me being anxious as I am terrified of losing it, but just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same or has experienced it in the past?

camflower · 22/05/2009 11:55

ohwhatacrapmsfear, it's a bit trial and error with prunes but a good nine or ten should be enough to be going on with!
