NORTHAMPTON HOSPITAL v. KETTERING GENERAL-Reviews?

Looks likely I could end up having baby in either one. Does anyone have any reviews? I'd prticularly prefer one with rooms called (LDRP Rooms) rather than ward.

Is there a water pool in either too?
Thanks!

Can only say about one - Kettering is ok, but understaffed at night. It has a water pool, but it was cracked when I was last there and not in use. Should think its fixed now. Labour ward is friendly, but ca be busy.

Think you can pay for a side room.

Would think Northampton much the same really.

Hi Farmgirls. It is likely I'll be giving birth at KGH any day now. They have recently changed the policy on private post-natal rooms, you can no longer pay for them - they are reserved for women who have had traumatic labours or c-sections.

The facilities are pretty dated, but I have heard good things about the service and treatment from MWs. I don't know anything about Northampton as am from North of the county.

Good luck!

Info might be outdated as ds is 2.5 and was born at KGH. Birth pool was fine water temperature was constantly chekced. I had a MW with me majority of my labour (was on ward for 4 hours i think) only time i didnt ahve one with me really was at change over as i was admitted over night. I had a private side room on Rowan ward but think that was due to me having endo as there was space in the bays. Staff on wards were lovely.

no ds is 2.6

Hi,
DS is 10 months and born at KGH. Staff were fab, water birth was available to me and room was great. Had private room - I just asked if I could and they will try to give you one whenever one is free.

Really had no complaints as all, am not so much of a fan of Northampton.

Are you based around Wellingborough? I was and had a choice of either.

Hi farmgirls. I had ds (20 months old now) at Kettering and was induced there. Kettering's absoutely fine, I didn't want a water birth but I can honestly say that the midwives who delivered ds were fantastic, especially as I was a nervous wreck. Agree with Divvy about being short-staffed at night tho. I thought the food was pretty good, still remember how starving I was afterwards.

Car park is a pain sometimes, having to wait for a space when visiting, but I've never been to Northampton hosp so can't comment or compare.

Are you still out there farmgirls or has the exciting event happened yet?!
