So I have suffered with heartburn before but this is heartburn from hell.
It started last night and was really burning and making me feel sick .
I nodded off at about 9pm and at 10 pm was woken up with awful pain I got up and had what felt like a mild ctx and these carried on for about an hour everytime I felt acid come up into my mouth I would have a pain .
I was sick but all that came up was a load of clear stuff which I assume to be acid .
This eased it and I went to bed only to be woke up at 1am with it worse than ever I ended up sitting downstairs and everytime I felt the acid my stomach tightened . At one point during a tightning I could feel the acid rushing around the sides of my bump .
Eventually back in bed at 4am and dp has got me some rennies today but feel really run down and can still feel the acid . I went back to bed for a couple of hours but even when I was sleeping I was still aware of the acid /tightning cycle .
I really can't do another night of this am scared to eat or drink anything it hurts that much .
I am 38 weeks BTW .

have you tried gaviscon?

moodlumthehoodlum · 13/05/2009 17:02

drink milk

go to your GP or walk in clinic as there are antacids you can take in pg.

Comewhinewithme · 13/05/2009 17:04

Milk made it worse and gaviscon not really touching it .

If it happens again tonight will go to GP.

Our walk in centres won't treat pregnant pregnant women. Wonder if you could ask the pharmacist what is safe for you to take?

Dp went and got me rennies and gaviscon today cargirl after the pharmicist suggested them.

I am not been a wuss this is baby no 6 and I have never felt heatburn/acid like it [sigh].

I've never had it just suffered the screams of a acid reflux baby (shudder - it must hurt so much).

I would go to the gp tomorrow anyway if the rennies & gaviscon aren't helping. Although I was told it could take a few days for the gaviscon to work on dd sort a bit of a cumulative affect I think.

go to the gp and get a prescription for Omeprazole.

It's pronounced oh-meh-pra-zoll.

Stops your stomach producing the acid in the first place rather than dealing with symptoms.

I'm 35 weeks and I'm on it.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 13/05/2009 20:47

Hi, I had ranitidine from about 29 weeks as I was having really bad heartburn in my first pg, it works the same way as mogwai's omeprazole.

Doctor will definitely be better than a walk in centre.
