Hi ladies,

I have just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant and over the moon but I am so worried!

I have been having dull period pains, I have been reading other posts on here which say that pain in early pregnancy can be normal but I am freaking out that something is wrong.

Should i feel pregnant, I've heard people say they knew they were pregnant before they even did a test, I don't feel this and I can't really explain it but feel awful that I don't feel pregnant and am worrying that something is wrong.

Sorry that I went on a little there, am I being silly or is there something to worry about? does anyone feel like this?

You are a bit silly. Period pain is completely normal at that stage of your pregnancy. If there is no bleeding, try to relax.

And congratulations!

Everyone is different and as this is your first pregnancy, you've nothing to compare it to. Evem if you did have, it might still be different! I recall vague period-pain type things, and wondering when the 'pregnant' feeling would kick in - it did after about 8 weeks IIRC - with knobs on! Try to relax and if you are worried about the pains, make an appointment with the GP or midwife to try to allay fears. Good luck - sure you'll be fine

I didn't 'feel' pregnant until at least 8 weeks with my first.

Relax, rest a lot and eat well - hopefully you'll get 3 weeks or so before morning sickness kicks in!

Congratulations

Congratulations mummy2b85! I recently found out I'm pregnant, my first pregnancy and am now 7½ weeks, but really don't feel pregnant either. I've also had dull period pain feelings, and also some aches which I think were trapped wind! (It is a bit scary but everything I've read seems to indicate it's normal - as long as it's not accompanied by bleeding, or too painful.) Luckily no real nausea... but no real feelings of being pregnant either. I guess we're all different and I suppose it's still such early days and perhaps we are being eased into the new experience? I did think I would feel different... special... bonded with the teeny little thing inside me. Not yet, which is very wierd!

Congratulations mummy2b85. I felt exactly that way early in my pregnancy - was convinced I was going to have a period at any moment and was very surprised when I did the pg test. We had been trying but I didn't feel at all pregnant and felt very pre-menstrual. I think that continued for several weeks and then the whole sore boobs n back, sickness etc kicked in. Good luck!

thanks everyone for your reasuring messages, I'm probably gonna regret saying this but i wish the back pain and morning sickness would kick in and then i know that its real!

Mummy2b85 - you sound just like me!!

I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 7 weeks and even then it was a surprise - I was convinced my period was about to come on as I had period pains. Even when I did the test, I did a further 3 tests over the next few weeks as I felt so un-pregnant!!

I didn't get any morning sickness, my boobs felt the same as they would pre-menstrual and when I went for the 12 week scan I half expected them to ask me what I was doing there! I guess some people just aren't as in tune with their bodies as others !

It wasn't until I started to grow a bump and feel my baby move that I really felt pregnant. And I too wished for morning sickness to come!

I'm now 39 weeks and DEFINITELY pregnant! you'll be fine I'm sure - like all the ladies who know say, unless there's blood, just sit back and enjoy your privileged status!!

Congratulations!

Hi Mummy2b85
Just found out I am pregnant - about three or four hours ago to be exact! Conceived about three weeks ago. Since last Thursday I have had what feels like period pains and other strange pelvic pains. I can only describe as stretching sort of spasms and quite a low back pain. I had the same thing when I was pregnant eight years ago and was told that it is quite normal and is just things shuffling around in your body. Because of the pain I left it ages before I took a test as I just assumed period was due.

It's pretty intense at times and unpleasant but paracetomol seems to help.
Congrats!

Thingiebob - congratulations!

I am just 5 weeks with my first and I can completely understand where you are coming from. I have had alot of period pains for the last few days and have been kind of hoping that I would get a bit of morning sickness just so that I would feel pregnant. That is something I am sure we will regret in a few weeks time when we become intimately aquainted with the toilet .

Congratulations by the way and to everyone else

Don't worry Mummy2b, I'm 12 weeks today and felt the same exact way!! I still wonder sometimes, although I now have a tiny baby bump! I wake up on my tummy and freak out. I swore AF was starting and never bothered to take a test, but was going thru a fertility specialist so per their schedule I had to take a blood test and there it was! You will be great! Congratulations!

Hi, Im so glad Ive read this too, I feel exactly the same and this is my second so I should know better, ha! Im 6 weeks and feel period pains and nothing else. I read somewhere else tonight that it's all the stretching inside and your body adjusting but im still freaked out when I feel pains. I remember with my first I had sore boobs and a metalic taste in my mouth and thats what alerted me to take a test at 5.5 weeks. By 6.2 weeks I was very sick (which is awful) but it only lasted until around 11 weeks. This time no sore boobs, no metalic taste. On Monday I had bad diarroah and sickness all day and night which i thought was the pregnancy but it turned out to be a bug because DH has it now! All pregnancy's are different so don't worry about people who knew before the test like I did the first time because this time Im shocked im actually pregnant, I sure don't feel it! x
