Cramps in second trimester?

I have had really bad period pains all of today. I had these in the early weeks both times, and in the last couple of weeks last pregnancy but not at this stage.

I'm 22 weeks tomorrow, I though the expanding uterus pain was now stretching and sharp pain in the muscles rather than aches. I'm not desperately worried but a bit concerned, is it normal? Has anyone else had it? The baby is moving around as normal and everything else seems fine. I have taken paracetamol but it hasn't had any effect. Thanks for any reassurance.

I dont have any experience with this but as no-one has replied I thought I'd wade in!

Have you rung the midwife? I would pop in and see her just to put my mind at rest, personally.

I've had some 'tightening' myself (23 weeks) so it may be normal practice cramps but why not check to be on the safe side.

In the worst case scenario, they do have drugs that stop labour. Let me know what happens.

Could it be ligament pains? I had these really badly with both my pregnancies and they started at around this time. I was admitted to hospital first time round as they thought I maybe in premature labour. They were really bad and I was off work with it.
Just a thought.

Thanks for replying!

They have eased off today thankfully. Still a bit achy but not like yesterday. I thought ligament pains too, but with ds they were a lot sharper and more vertical iyswim whereas this is like all round cramps. I don't know! I haven't spoken to the midwife, If they are still hanging around in a couple of days I will phone. I have my scan next week so I might just wait till then.

I am pretty sure it must just be muscle pains from stretching, I haven't had any tightenings or anything. We shall see! Thanks again.
