Hi All,

Not sure if this has been done before, I was interested what nicknames people had for there bump/ baby??

We are now calling ours Ickle Squiggle

But some of my DP and friends suggestions were:

Freddie the Fetus
Freya the fetus
Boris the prawn
Dawn the prawn
Peanut

Hence why I came up with squiggle lol

Would be good to see what other people have come up with.

When I was pregnant with ds1, he was bambi, short for bambino.
ds2 didn't really have a nicname other than bubba because that's what ds1 culd say. Although it's not the name on his birth certificate, ds2 is still called bubba

My friend called hers Benny The Bump

laurawantsababy · 10/05/2009 08:18

Dd was Douglas after a nurse called her that on my 7 week scan! She was Douglas until she was born even though we knew she was a girl!

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 11/05/2009 08:05

Mine was Mr Bumpyson or Bambino

DawnAS · 11/05/2009 09:12

Our 36 week old bump is called "Jelly". We had to have an early scan at 8 weeks following a previous MC and the sonographer said she looked like a Jellybean. So our LO was called "JB" for a few weeks, until we found out that we were having a pink one. JB then seemed too masculine, so she's now known as "Jelly"!!

Since it looks like her real name is going to be Elesha Ellen Rose (Ellie for short), she will no doubt be known by me and DH as Jelly Ellie!!

Wonderwitch · 11/05/2009 15:29

Mini Cooper!

gizzy1973 · 11/05/2009 16:33

ours is semtex - dh named this one

m/c was pickle

wrigglershouse · 11/05/2009 18:23

Ours is Wriggler after it was so spectacularly mobile on on scan. Before the scan I was not intending to call it anything silly while in.

My screen name is because DH keeps asking me how "Wriggler's house" is doing and wanting to feel for the fundus all the time!

roseability · 11/05/2009 18:31

mine is merely called 'little one'

How very boring!

DS calls her (we know it is a girl) big, huge bump!

Wonderwitch · 11/05/2009 18:43

Mini cooper??? err why lol unless ur surname is Cooper then I can see why lol

semtex??? again ...why??? altho sometimes I wonder if i have a bomb brewing!! giving me all the horrible symptoms

Wrigglers house Love it thats a fab name how many weeks were you when u had the scan?

little one is not boring its cute but big huge bump says it all lol

Everything ends up known as bob in my family in the end...my son is almost exclusively Bob tho his name is James, our cat started off as just Thor but quickly became known as Thorbob so inevitably any future bumps will be known as babybob....we m/c recently and that was babybob from the moment we found out...

Wonderwitch · 17/05/2009 06:24

Hi boodleboot

My DS ( now 20yrs I might add LOL) went through a phase not long ago of calling everyone and everything Bob, so I wouldn't be surprised if the bump became that as well at some point lol

funny how we come up with these names etc, wonder why we do, or is that too deeper question? certainly is for me this early in the morn

DS was called Bump

DD was called Mark 2

keepcalmcarryon · 17/05/2009 17:14

We've come up with "tadpole"

GroovyGumdrops · 17/05/2009 17:28

DS was Dave after only fools & horses (a name for someone that's not actually their name IYSWIM) bears no resemblance to his actual name.

DC2 is called Pip as we found out that I was pregnant when he/she was the size of an apple pip.

gizzy1973 · 17/05/2009 18:05

semtex came about as dh said if we have a boy it would be like 10 lbs of semtex running around the house

KateyG · 18/05/2009 19:12

My bump is refered to as Rory or Rory Lion... my sister named bump very early on after the Gilmore Girls as I'm going to be a single mum too....

Has stuck now though and even my director at work asks after 'Rory'....

lupa · 23/05/2009 14:39

Mine is Marmalade. Discussed lack of bump-name over breakfast with 8yo sister and it stuck.

Verity79 · 23/05/2009 21:54

DD1 was Prawn as on 7 week scan she looked like a prawn. Genius eh?

DD2 was Bean as on 7 week scan she looked like a bean....again with the genius....

DC3 is Pip we didn't have a 7 week scan as no bleeding this time round but when we found out I was pg baby was the size of a......pip....we need to get help!

My friend's baby-in-bump is called Twiglet!

Love Gilmore Girls! Have you thought about using Lorelei in real life after baby is born? I'd use Lorelei myself but we have DD1 who's Lilith and we have a rule no one has the same first inital in our family. So J,V, L and A are taken

BexieID · 23/05/2009 22:08

Tom was Jaffa Cake. I had been looking through a baby names book at work and one of the girls names was Jaffa, so everybody started calling bump Jaffa!

I'm only 9 weeks along with DC2 and my mum has started to refer to bubbs as Jaffa, but we need a new name this time methinks.

mamamila · 23/05/2009 22:16

here it's toto

my aunt called her bump sammy and my cousin 'anthony' has never answered to any other name, he's 40 this year!

maxbear · 24/05/2009 01:51

Billy, Millie and hopefully one day Tilly!
