Hi all
The GP doesn't seem unduly concerned about the presence of this bacteria in my sample, but i wondered if anyone had experience of this infection occuring at such a late stage of pregnancy and any implications for delivery? I have no symptoms of UTI at all and am otherwise well, which is a good job as the bug appears to be resistant to all the antibiotics that are usually safe in pregnancy, so they don't want to give me anything at the moment.
thanks in advance

a UTI can lead to premature labour - but seeing as you are already full term this is not an issue....if anything it could prevent you going overdue .

Not aware of any other pg specific problems - but obviously a UTI left unchecked has the potential to track back up to teh kidneys in extreme cases.

thanks - am keeping an eye on symptoms and have been told to mention it if/when i go to hospital this week, just so the consultant obs. is aware.

hmm - are you taking anibiotics for it?? if not then maybe let your midwife know incase you do need to do anything about it before the delivery

No, appletiser, not taking any abs yet as there aren't any i can safely take without being attached to an IV drip. Am waiting for results on a new sample and have a post dates appointment on Friday, so hopefully will be able to review with midwife then.

I had this bug in labour via infected amniotic fluid and needed to go on a drip as got a high fever in labour.
