Is it ever acceptable for one to show one's bump in public?

Am due in August and it's supposed to be a heatwave....

I could get it 'St Tropez'ed?

I went to nudist clubs with mine . Why shouldn't you show it off it you feel comfortable doing so?

InsomniacMumontheRun · 08/05/2009 12:14

If you feel confident then go for it I say.

I, however, will be keeping my large, due soon, stretched bump safely under at least 2 layers at all times!

Picante · 08/05/2009 12:15

Nudist clubs eh? More information required!

On the beach, In a bikini/takini.

flowerybeanbag · 08/05/2009 12:26

Beach yes, otherwise no imo.

If you are in a situation where you would bare your belly in public when not pregnant, then def. should not worry about doing it when pregnant. Let the weirdoes who cannot deal with a pregnant body go away and sort out their own hangups!

When I was 8 months with DD I was changing after swimming in ladies communal changing rooms. As I applied body lotion a woman told me I should use the cubicles as it was "not decent to show myself in my condition"!

Needless to say I told her in no uncertain terms where to go

stanausauruswrecks · 08/05/2009 12:51

I went on holiday at 24 weeks and was out and proud with my big belly in a bikini - I got a few stares but they soon got used to it!

misscreosote · 08/05/2009 13:33

I'd much rather see a lovely pregnant tummy than a flabby muffin top any day!

solidgoldSneezeLikeApig · 08/05/2009 18:28

Yes I am another one who thinks a bump looks nice. (I am one of these annyoing people who actually did glow for the whole second half..)

MrsMattie · 08/05/2009 18:30

I never felt the need to, but then, I haven't been in to showing off my midriff since I was much, much slimmer younger. I did like tight fititng tops that showed off my bump, though.

On the beach/swimming etc? Of course. Perfectly acceptable. Why wouldn't you? Bumps are yummalicious.

Tidey · 08/05/2009 18:33

Personally I wouldn't, because I don't think the rest of me looks nice enough. If I had a lovely slim toned body and nice neat bump, I would've.

I've seen lots of people wearing short tops with their bump showing and it looks good though.

ChocFudgeCake · 08/05/2009 20:58

I would show it very proudly on the beach (only).

FfreckleFface · 08/05/2009 21:02

I was bumped up in winter, so didn't, but had a lovely pic taken of me with it out and used it as my FB profile for a while.

Go for it.

SallyJayGorce · 08/05/2009 21:11

No - absolutely forbidden! Once one begins to show, one must suffer one's confinement at home in the company of females. If a man should walk into the parlour unannounced one must swiftly place any tell tale knitting in a basket and remain seated. Ideally, visit relatives in the country until the baby is at least a year old, thereby avoiding awkward questions from siblings about "where do babies come from?"

psychomum5 · 08/05/2009 21:13

I did with my last three. tis very liberating having a bump on show on the beach

marmoset · 08/05/2009 21:15

Go for it but colour it in - a few I saw last summer were purple with cold!

If I'd had a glowing golden bump I'd have paraded it about with gay abandon. However mine looked as if a pot of blackcurrant jam had exploded all over it thanks to skin that clearly had no elasticity at all so frankly it stayed well hidden and probably will for all time. Unless someone pays me to do a dare. About a fiver would do it.

Gorgeous 17 yr olds are horrified if ANYONE over the age of 20 has the cheek to wear a bikini though, MrsPickles!
