When did you 'know' you were pg with no2?

Just wondering. I think I am being completly stupid and maybe wanting it to be IYSWIM.

We are ttc number 2 and have been for 3 weeks. Today I feel different - I have a metallic taste in my mouth, have very mild stomach cramps and have gone off diet coke (totally unheard of)

Am I being stupid? Has anyone else had this so early on and then found out they were pg?

Please feel free to tell me to stop being an idiot

I knew I was pregnant when the smell of the dog made me barf about a week before my period was due!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/05/2009 10:29

I was on holiday and felt stupidly tired and had waves of nausea.

I'd had what I thought was a light period just before we'd gone away so thought I couldn't be pg. That must have been an implantation bleed as I tested once I got home and got a positive. I was about 5 weeks!

Pinkjenny · 06/05/2009 10:30

Only when I peed on the stick. I was absolutely convinced I wasn't pg, which was so different to my experience with dc1, when I just 'knew'. It was a total surprise to me this time when the test was positive.

I have had stomach cramps for about three weeks now though, before af was due, and on and off since.

Fingers crossed for you. When is AF due?

SallyJayGorce · 06/05/2009 10:32

Metallic taste sounds familiar. With no. 2 I felt a sort of explosion somewhere inside - like an echo from a distant star somehow in my body and was convinced it was the moment of conception. Weird hippy stuff - but I was pregnant and felt that before all other signs. No.1 and No. 3 just twigged when I went off wine and started feeling sick.

Hope you are right and good luck.

Mummyfor3 · 06/05/2009 10:32

Took me to 16 weeks - he was born at 31 weeks, shortest human pregnancy ever!!

You are NOT an idiot, although maybe sl unhinged ... DO NOT TEST until your period is due unless you really want to torture yourself.
Good luck !

So Im not going mad then!! I also went to the milk in the microwave instead of the fridge earlier which also made me think!

Thanks everyone

One night I was going to bed early as DP was watching the football. I knew I had a preg test in the drawer (clearblu digital from here!)and something just made me think that I should use it. I didn't know I was late, didn't have any symptoms, just thought I should use it. DP was more than a bit surprised when I came into the living room muttering "bloody hell, bloody hell..!"

Hawkmoth · 06/05/2009 12:50

Knackered and dizzy from about three weeks from last period.

geekage · 06/05/2009 12:54

I just knew straight from ov I felt different.

LissyGlitter · 06/05/2009 12:56

I didn't know till I happened to look on MN ovalation calender (as we were thinking of starting to ttc) and realised I was late, then I did a test, not expecting any thing, and there was the line!

JimmyMcNulty · 06/05/2009 13:42

I 'knew' I was pg with no.2 when I had v sore breasts, felt queasy, just felt pg. But actually I wasn't pg then.

Next month I had no symptoms whatsoever and felt great. Period didn't arrive and I tested positive 2 days later... All the symptoms arrived about 2 weeks after that, with a vengeance.

Lizzylou · 06/05/2009 13:44

I burst into tears when James Blunt's "Beautiful" came on the radio, very randomly
Was a bit early to test, but a few days later got a positive pg test with one of those early testers

JemL · 06/05/2009 13:55

I thought AF was going to start - that was how I felt. I tested on the day I was due, and got a positive - I tested purely because we had been trying, and had loads of cheap tests!

The previous month, I had been convinced I was pregnant - didn't feel at all as if AF was due, tired, achy boobs, and funny taste in mouth and AF arrived exactly on schedule.

Pepa · 06/05/2009 14:00

When even though I was complety sleep deprived after 15 months of DS wanting to play in the middle of the night I woke up at 3.30am to use the washroom.....just as I was about to fall back asleep it hit me like a ton of bricks UH-OH!!!! ...7 1/2 months it was DD's turn to keep me up all night!!

Cazzaben · 06/05/2009 14:11

To be honest I knew the minute we finished . I told him that we had just conceived our 2nd baby!
I remember 2 weeks after that having a metalic taste in my mouth and wondering if that was a symptom of early pregnancy. I also went off the taste of tap water (which was all I drank).
I also had a few (very slight) dizzy spells. remember texting DH all the time asking if these were symptoms!!!
I did a test 3 weeks later and it was positive. We conceived him on 21st July 2007 (4 weeks after our wedding!!) and his due date was 27th April. He arrived my elective c-section on 26th April.

I would give it a week and do a test... x

LittleMonkeysMummy · 06/05/2009 14:36

Funny taste in my mouth, felt a bit light headed but the real penny dropper was when I had a sip of my coffee one morning and I thought I was going to throw up

Ninjacat · 06/05/2009 14:45

I just knew I was pg form very early on. I did a test even though I was having what could have passed as a period.
DP says he knew when I told him his feet stank - he's obsessive about personal hygene!

I'd had my coil removed 3wks prior.
DP says he thought he'd get to have a bit more fun trying.

laurawantsababy · 06/05/2009 15:00

Wow. I cant wait to do a test now! Will obviously wait a few weeks first! Fingers af doesnt show.

Dizzy 2 weeks before period due, 10 days before period due I totally needed orange juice and coffee made me sick, 7 days before period due I was up at 5am chucking up!

Nice! I was pretty sure from the orange juice, oh and very early need for marmite..and cinnamon buns...

mmmm, excuse me I have to go and eat something!!

MrsMattie · 06/05/2009 16:01

When I forced DH to pull over on the side of the road so I could be violently sick. Then demanded he stop for McD's breakfast just an hour or so later. That sort of weird, stomach-based behaviour can only mean one thing...

staylucky · 06/05/2009 16:47

Sounds very airy fairy but knew at conception something very special had just happened. Just can't explain it.

Cazzaben · 06/05/2009 18:30

Thats how I felt staylucky... Not something I could easily explain at the time to DH. He laughed and thought I was mad as we weren't even trying, he also said it cant happen like that so quick. We had used condoms for months before our wedding and the only time we didnt was the 21st July... Thats why i was so sure of my dates also.
Sounds unbelievable really when you think couples try for years.
Just the once for me... !!

hobnob57 · 06/05/2009 21:43

I was tired, a bit woozy and light-headed, and then got an implantation bleed so I knew for certain then (5 days before AF due). I then had a couple of days of vertigo-like dizziness where I'd fall over if my head moved off vertical and my ears crackled like I'd got water in them. They haven't been the same since....

Weird.
