Hi All,

I am now totally confused, not that hard I know with me but its now got me scratching my head ( no I haven't got nits lol), can someone please explain how the devil they date you?

I do understand its only a prediction b4 the dating scan, but I also know that that can be wrong too.

So let me try and explain this, I hope it makes sense. sorry if it doesn't.

OK.....

My LMP was 22nd March 2009 which if you count from then I am now 6 weeks pregnant, ie 29th March being week one.

that makes me 40 weeks pregnant on the 27th Dec 2009, which everywhere is saying is my due date.

NOW... my GP used the wheel thing and gave me same due date but said I was a week more, now 7 weeks pregnant.

But....

I have gone though my diary putting both weeks in every week and the doc saying I am 7 weeks means on the 27th Dec I would be 41 weeks.

I would like to get this sorted as when people ask I don't want to be forever saying oh I dunno exactly I might be 6 weeks I might be 7 lol I know I'm blonde but I don't need to advertise it everytime someone asks lol

Anyone got any ideas or can explain it to me before it drives me round the bend lol

Just read that back, makes me look so sad worrying so much over one week lol, but it is nice to know and understand it.

Your GP may have made a mistake.
Count 40 weeks from the date your LMP started and that is your estimated due date.
I make you 6+2 today.

EDDs based on LMP assume that you ovulate on day 14 of your cycle. If you don't, when you eventually have a scan you may end up with a completely different due date. With my first, my EDD was 31 May, but after a scan it was 5 June, because that cycle I ovulated on CD19.

Hope that helps.

Hi MrsHappy x

I thought that the doc had made a mistake too, but I have now spoken to another 2 docs at the practice when there for other things and they all say the same thing... very strange!!

I will bring it up when I see the midwife at the surgery coz I think they may have a duff wheel lol, or they are just not reading it right.

Thanks for your reply, I was starting to think I was going mad lol

Maybe he was rounding up?

Or saying that you are in the 7th week of pregnancy?

So from 22nd March-26th March you were in the 1st week of pg, though technically still 0+something if you get me?

Wonderwitch · 05/05/2009 08:22

Hi JustKeepSwimming,

Yeah I do get you and yes it make sense now you say it like that, but it is all soo confusing lol

so when people ask I do i say as MrsHappy said... 6+2 or 7th week??

I really must have my blonde head on at the moment, I should know all this from having 2 before but it was 18 and 20 yrs ago now eeekk!! lol

say 6+2. It's easier to keep track of.

It's interesting what you say about the wheel. At my local hospital they have put both me and a friend a day ahead of where we know we are (based on LMP) and where GPs/midwives agree us to be. Strange huh? It's just as well that hardly any babies come out on their due dates anyway!

JustKeepSwimming · 05/05/2009 08:34

say 6 weeks to anyone, much easier for us mere mortals to understand!

wow and 18 year gap?!

good luck and enjoy it!

Wonderwitch · 05/05/2009 08:36

lol, yeah your right,

my son was sort of on due date, by the LMP he was on due date, by scan date he was 3 days late,

My daughter o the other hand was just over 2 weeks late, lazy mare lol

I was just gettin so confused on what I should be saying, oh well so I have gone back a week but then again wots a week in the grand scheme of things lol

Thanks so much fell a little clearer now
