the sonographer told us we were having a boy and showed us something hat looked like boy parts. why does everyone think its a girl, noone has said its a boy. and strangely, even though i know its a boy, for a long time now, everytime i imagine our baby, its a girl. could there be something in this? i have namechanged for this post btw as OH and i havent told anyone that we know what were having.

Seems to me that the sonographer is more likely to have the steer on this one

AliBean · 04/05/2009 22:31

Same happened to me - everyone said girl, sonographer says boy. Am going with sonographer. She can see...everyone else can't.

true true, im just thinking why theyre all so convinced. ive even put off packing the babys coming home outfit as its blue, just incase.

People tell you what they think for all sorts of weird reasons...they want you to have a girl, they think you want to have a girl etc etc...pack a gender neutral outfit and wait and see!!

EachPeachPearMum · 04/05/2009 22:39

How on earth would anyone else know what it is? X-ray vision?

TrillianAstra · 04/05/2009 22:40

Is the sonographer not a person then?

I think he/she wins. Magic looky-insidey-tummy-machine

aweebitfreaked · 04/05/2009 22:40

yes you're probably right, they probably assume we want a girl as we already have a wee boy.

Well, how many weeks were you when sonographer told you?

I PAID for a sexing scan and they got it WRONG! Well, actually who knows because 'DD' isn't born yet but it was far more obvious at the last scan she was a girl (29 weeks).

aweebitfreaked · 04/05/2009 22:44

i was 20 weeks and they havent looked at any of the later scans cause my mums is a midwife there and i told her i didnt know so when they asked at later scans i told them i didnt want to know incase they mentioned to her. im useless at looking at scans so i couldnt tell myself when i looked.

My 16 week sexing scan appeared to show a white dot that was a penis.

At 29 weeks plus the same baby had a hamburger for bits, seen both 3D and 2D. Unmistakable absence of penis!

aweebitfreaked · 04/05/2009 22:53

well what she showed us at 20 weeks looked like testicles but she had to actually point them out to me, i completely missed it. she is most likely correct as that is what she is trained to do so i'll go with it. i guess im just gettin freaked that soo many people have said its a girl. nobody made comments like that when pg with ds.

At my 20 week scan with dd1 the sonographer couldn't tell. People then continued to do my head it telling me it was (not they thought) a boy. Gave in and had a 4d scan, well they were bloody wrong she was a girl.

People do not realise how upsetting it can be when they pass judgement like that.
If it's really troubling could you have a private scan? For me it as definately worth it. Good luck whatever.

mumface · 06/05/2009 20:06

I was told a boy at 21 week scan, but what she pointed out as boys bits I am now convinced is a fist holding the umbilical cord.It is too high up on body & you can see arm connected to it.It is a very blurry picture.I have just bought neutrals have heard so many stories of them being wrong.
