What can I take for Hayfever

Hi, im 35+3 and my hayfever has just kicked in. Im not sure if i can take anything at all really, does anyone know before i visit the doctor again!!

lully, i have just been prescribed a nasal spray by my doctor; its called nasonex or something. seemed to work within the first three days.
last pg, i took p[iriton for the last 5 weeks, although it was for itching not hayfever but maybe a possibility?

Claritin and Benadryl are both considered safe in pregnancy. You could ring your doctor's office and ask over the phone to confirm what they would be most comfortable with you taking.

I was prescribed piriton by my gp last week, to use when its really bad. She said that because it is one of the older of the anithistimines, there is more research about it and therefore they know it to be safe.

I took a nasal spray when pg with ds (and will probably need again with this pregnancy through the summer).
The doc wasnt too keen but admitted I couldnt go on like I was, I could barely see and was so worn out from sneezing all the time.

I'm nearly 37 weeks and my hayfever has started too - I take cetirizine antihistamines, one once daily - its non drowsy, unlike piriton which is. You can also buy it over the counter, although obv its free at the mo if you get it on prescription1 I checked with an allergy nurse specialist, plus also the specialist consultant, who I work with (I'm a nurse too), and they say that it is more detrimental to your and your baby's health if you suffer and do not take anything. I have also been taking my asthma medication all throughout my pregnancy. Good luck!

Thanks for your advice ladies, think i will visit the doctor this week as it seems to be getting worse, especially at night & first thing.
I will keep you posted with what they say, its amazing how many different opions there are.

Good luck Lully - do keep us posted, although I am 100% confident that the medication I have been taking is not detrimental to my baby! (nb - at night and first thing is always the typically worst time for hay fever sufferers!)
