First period after miscarriage... does a really light one count?

Hi ladies, I had a blighted ovum (empty sac) and miscarried on 12th march @ 10weeks. On 9th April I started bleeding a little but it was really really light, only something there when I wiped, it lasted about 4-5 days. Could that have been a period? Is a first period after miscarriage usually light? I've felt bloated, sick and light headed all week so i'm wondering if i'm pregnant but have I had my first period yet? Does that count and can I use it as a date? It's very early days so I'm guessing I'll have to wait at least a week before I can do a test. Any info would be much apprciated. xx

Sorry about your m/c, you could be pregnant if you have being trying again

Back in nov i had a m/c and after i had stopped bleeding i started trying again.

I was pregnant a week after that again, i did' nt know as i had spoting and light bleeding i thought i was coming on my period.

Then i started to feel sick, light headed to. Gp sent me to hospital as they thought i was having a molar pregnancy.

At the hospital they gave me a scan , only to be told i was 10 weeks pregnant, im 6 months now.

So if you keep on feeling like that, wait abit and do a test.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

My first period after a miscarriage was very heavy - but I had an infection following the miscarriage, so this may have affected it.

I then got pregnant again after that first period.

Fingers crossed for you x

I've just done a test and it says i'm pregnant but part of me is thinking is this still my hormones from my miscarriage?????? it's a VERY bold/dark line, no doubt it's positive... I wanna be happy but suppose until i see my gp and have it confirmed and then have a scan to check there definitely is a baby this time, fingers crossed xx

I think it would be very unlikely that there would still be hcg in your system from a pregnancy that ended on 12th March. When I had a mc at 12 weeks, it took about 35 days to get to nothing. As you mc at 10 weeks, you would typically expect to get a clear pregnancy test in less time than this. I think the exception would be if you had some retained tissue or possibly a molar pregnancy (but I think these are very rare).

A strong line sounds good though! Go and ask for an early scan so you know where you are.

fingers crossed for you

does your gp know your circumstances? if so she/he may be able to organise a scan for you sooner rather than later to put your mind at rest x

We BD'd on 1st April and again on 23rd April. I had what I thought to be a light period on 9th April so now I'm wondering if that was an implantation bleed and I actually conceived on 1st April? The line is very bold and I'm not due AF til tomorrow... I had a scan after my m/c and they were happy that everything had gone and she said my womb had returned to normal. I work at a hospital so I will go and see if my midwife is around as she's only at my surgery on mondays. Really hope it's for keeps this time xxx
