Hi All,

My sister in law gave me the rough guide to pregnancy and birth by Kaz Cooke.

OMG how funny is this book I have been in tears with laughter, makes a change from sobbing coz of hormones lol

It is brilliant does anyone else agree?

If you haven't heard of it, it is hilarious, it gives you information about pregnancy and birth but in such a humorous way, I def haven't laughed so much in ages, and as had two kids, ALONG time ago admittedly, it is SO true.

If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it, you will be definitely laughing your socks off.

couple of quotes from the book...." if anybody asks why you are tired, just say you have been making eyebrows all night long"

" Week 4.. According to one pregnancy book photo, this is when you will wear a hideous smock and alice band, and stare out the window holding a cup and saucer like a demented fool"

There are so many of these its hard just to pick a couple.

Happy reading and it might be an idea if you do read it to sit on a towel if you have problems in the bladder region!! lol

I was given this book and found it fantastic and really funny. I didn't like the books which were too scientific and serious (although I had 2 easyish pregnancies, maybe if I'd had problems I would've felt differently) and that one had the facts I wanted and made me laugh.
However, I then gave it to my SIL and she thought it as crap and liked the more in depth ones, but she also likes to buy lots of Baby Whisperer type books too which I could never be faffed with.

I found this book when I was pregnant and waiting for the results of a CVS (test for Downs). It really cheered me up at a horrible time, and helped me get things in perspective a bit. (Test came back negative in the end, thank goodness).

It's a really down to earth, genuinely funny book, I loved it. I guess it's not for people who take themselves too seriously, or are easily offended by mild swearing, but otherwise highly recommended

My favourite pregnancy book by miles.

Her guide to babies and toddlers, Kidwrangling, is also excellent. It's the only toddler book you need, really.

Agree with OP, this is the best and most hilarious book on pregnancy that I have read - got to love the term 'lady lotion'

I do think it is funny - and I liked the updates on what was happening with the baby - but with hindsight it wasn't all that helpful. Especially because in the end she has a c-section. I realise they can't cover every eventuality but still...

I loved this book - was given it by a friend during my first pregnancy.

Both my DDs came early but I still thought this was the easiest book to follow.

Maybe I should get the next book? Hmm - off to bookshop site!

I read this book with ds, I'm going to dig it out again.

I'm not sure why people think it's not helpful. It's very funny yes, but it's not a comedy book - it also gives lots of down to earth advice, and week by week updates on what stage your pregnancy us at, which were pretty spot on for me.

I had this book alongside "Your pregnancy week by week" by Professor Lesley Regan for a more reference style book with great pictures.

I relied on this book during my pregnancy, and I cannot recommend it enough. Lots of practical information, and I liked the fact there were no photos! My husband also liked it and read it from cover to cover, making the bed shake as he laughed.

it has been our pregnancy bible! Saturdays are our weekly update nights.

I particularly like the question in the quiz that said induction is holding a hob nob outside the vagina to coax the baby out

I just recently borrowed this book out of the library and think it contains hilarious, excellent advice for someone like me, a complete first timer!!

It's esp good, as she is a mum too and not some stuck up there own arse, never had kids themsleves midwife/doc!!

Might have to extend my loan of this book or buy myself a copy or rob it!!!!!
