I am hoping others might be able to share your own experience of this as its really upsetting. On Tuesday I suddenly felt like I had wet myself and rushed to the loo. My knickers were soaked through and I was really concerned. However, after changing and freshening up I was OK. Later the same day it happened again and then in the middle of the night. I was so worried I went to my local labour ward who were great. They checked my urine and did an internal and said there was no sign of any problems with amniotic fluid or the baby and it must just be watery discharge. I came away feeling much happier.

However, yesterday and again this morning, I have soaked a pad through in no time at all and am starting to worry again. Its not constant but there is a lot of liquid. Is anyone else experiencing this or have done in the past.

I have a call in to the midwife but think she will probably say the same as the hospital. Can anyone share the same?

Hiya :-)

One ov the first signs i had wen i first found out i was pregnant was excessive discharge!!

It did last a while and often i did have the same feeling as u and sumtimes thort i had wet myself, i think it is quite common during pregnancy and as long as its not smelly or has a colour to it u shud be fine.

I can tell u that my discharge did last up till about 7 weeks ago and im now 36+6 weeks.

Hope this has helped hun xxxx

Thanks Sheelmc it helps to hear others have suffered the same thing, its the quantity that had me worried, did you get a lot?

I haven't been too bad today, nothing since this morning which is helping me feel a bit better but still finding it difficult not to worry.

Just seen this - have you had your 20 week scan? If you're not due another scan soon I think you should request one, even if just to stop you worrying. It is not always possible to tell if your waters have gone with an internal exam, unless she did the colour change swab thing.

I really don't want to worry you as its much more likely your waters haven't gone, but this happened to me with my second baby. They did about 3 internal exams over the course of the week and each one they said they didn't think my waters had gone, but what they were actually seeing was that my cervix was not dilating. It later turned out that the waters had gone when I thought they had. She should also have swabbed to check if you have an infection that could be causing the discharge. Hope this helps and doesn't worry you too much.

Hi Owlingate, I had my 20 week scan last week and that was all fine, I also have another booked for Friday this week just to check on the fluid - earliest I could get.

At my exam on Monday night they did take a swab and I should have the results of that in a couple of days. I hear its not wise to have a lot of internal exams too close together so am worried about getting them to have another look and I have just had a PM from someone who was soaking through 5 pads an hour at one point with discharge and she was fine and told that some women just suffered with this for a while so am hoping all is ok. Still havent had a call back from my midwife who I have been trying to get all day!

Will see how I get on overnight, it has definately eased up today...
