Im currently 36+5 weeks pregnant with my first baby.

I was just wondering if you could give me sum early signs of labour that u experienced in your births??

Iv heard that not always your waters go and so u cud get contrctions and dialate without waters going, then iv heard u lose ur mucus plug first but then soo many people say they dont remember having a show, anyone had mild pains but wer still in labour, im just wanting peoples experiences to help wen my time comes.

Is there any otha signs apart from waters going, having a show and regular contractions that anyone else got???

Thankyou my minds going wild now that im getting closer to my date xxxx

Thanks love shell and baby bump xxxx

mild twinges, that got stronger, longer and more painful.
my waters were broken as dd was born. dont remember a mucus plug but i began to bleed when nearly fully dilated.
I used a hires tens machine and it was brilliant!

good luck!

I was woken in the early hours of the morning with period like cramps I got up to go to the toilet and had a show. I went back to bed

Woke up a couple of hours later with more period like cramps and again had another show.

I continued to loose the mucus plug throughout the day. The contractions came every 15 minutes from then on and steadily got more intense and longer. Until they got to about 5 minutes apart.

I rang the labor ward and went in, came home, went in, came home, went in and refused to come home lol.

My waters were broken for me, and trickled didn't gush. 59 hours from start to finish.

You will know when you are in labor.

Also the one piece of advice I wish I received while I was in labor was to keep mobile as it helps to get things moving. If I had been told that maybe I wouldn't have been in labor for so long lol.

Hoping DD2 doesn't take as long as DD1 did.

Good luck.

Mucus plug for both. Then tightenings of stomach very gradually getting more and more painful. Waters broken for me by midwife in late labour.

I felt mildly period painy, went for a poo had a really painful contraction and when I wiped front bum there was a mucusy (sp?) show. Contractions then continued every 4 minutes. Didn't give birth for another 26 hours though so be prepared for a long wait...

how exciting, not long to go now for you! My waters broke at 39wks with nothing much happening on the labour / contractions. I was induced 24 hours later as they wont let you go longer than that once your waters have broken in case of infection. On hindsight, I did seem to do a lot of poos during the day before my waters went in the evening. Mother natures way of clearning out?! dont remember mucus plug either!
GOOD LUCK!!

I woke up with period type cramps and needed to go to the loo. The pain lasted a minute or so - then I went back to bed. the pains continued about every seven minutes. I got up and had a bath and by the time I got out my contractions were two minutes apart so I went to the hospital. When I got there I was already 9 cm dilated. Didn't have a show till I got to the hospital and don't remember when my waters went.

From my first contraction to getting to the hospital was just 2.5 hours but there were added complications so things didn't progress that quickly after.

I woke up in the morning with mild period type pains. I was 3 days over so hoped that was it but let dh go to work without saying anything. He worked an hour away too, I was so scared in the weeks beforehand I can't believe I was so calm!

I didn't tell him until that afternoon when the pains got worse but still all over the place time wise. I rang the hospital when he got home about 4pm but they said I wasn't in labour as pain not regular. Probably TMI but I had the runs all day too (believe it can be natures way of cleaning you out )

I went to the toilet about 1am and lost what looked like a fair bit of red blood and asked the hospital to let me go in as pain was quite bad. They said I could go and get checked but that I couldn't be in proper labour as my contractions weren't regular (still!).

However, I was 9 1/2 cms dialated when they checked. They broke my waters a few hours later to try and got things going (completely painless - this was one of things that had worried me!). Ds was finally born at 8.15am without me ever having a 'regular' contraction.

I guess no labour is ever the same! I was surprised how well I coped as I am well known for being a wimp but I found it best to have few expectations and just go with the flow!

Best of luck when it's your turn, I'm sure you'll know when it's all kicking off.

I ddin't realise the pain I had was labour to begin with - I just grumpily got up at 2am thinking I had cystitis AGAIN!! Went back to bed and at 3am was rudely awoken by my waters breaking all over me and dh.

No pains until 6am, by then I was in hospital anyway, but then they were like bad period pains, very low down, not over my belly like the midwife kept telling me they would be!

They monitored the baby's heart rate for about 45mins, then when I got up and walked around they really got going. Pushed for 45mins and Roseanna was born at 9.07am.

Best advice I could give is keep walking around and really really concentrate on breathing in through your nose and out of your mouth during contractions. The contracitions when I didn't do this hurt much more. And bring on the gas and air!!

Good luck all will be fine xxx
