Does anyone have any recent experience of how long the 20 week anomally scan takes ?

Ridiculously specific question but this week has turned into a logistical nightmare and I am planning down to the half hour for various chores.

it'll take as long as it takes I'm afraid!
my last one took forever as baby was not being very co-operative

Mine took about half an hour, they generally run to time too IME

Agree with TIY - it's purely a matter of how quickly they can get the information they need. It may be 20 mins or it may be 2 hours if the baby is in the wrong position (although they are unlikely to be scanning continuously for 2 hours!).

My first scan they could not get a clear picture of some organ due to the fact the baby was lying in the wrong position - I think it may have been the heart. I was told to roll over, stand up, walk down the corridor, etc etc. Baby would not move.

I was sent away for half an hour to have a v cold drink. It moved - but then moved back while the sonographer was trying to get the image.

I was sent away again, told to go to the loo and wait to be called again, and I was also told if the baby was not in the right position when I came back I would have to be recalled on another date.

Luckily it moved - but the whole process took nearly 2 hours. My second scan the baby was perfectly co-operative and it took about 20 mins.

should have added - this was at a different London hospital, but unless the C&W have a cattle prod to make the baby shift, I can't see that it would be any different there!

I wasn't at C&W, but I had to go out for a cold drink and a walk around so that the baby would move for them to get a proper look at it's heart. I would allow a couple of hours incase that happens.
