I spent most of last week in and out of hospital as the doctors thought I was having an ectopic pregnancy. I didn't even know I was pregnant as I was on the mini pill.
Anyway had an internal scan on Tuesday, and they saw a gestational sac but didn't know if it was in the right place, so they took bloods.
Got sent home and told to go back on Friday, had more bloods done and another scan.
Consultant did the scan and said the gestational sac was in the right place but couldn't see a yolk sac, she seamed perfectly happy with this. She said I was 4-5 pregnant.
Going back on Thursday for viabilty scan.
I am worried about my hcg levels though, on Tuesday they were 8895 and had doubled on the Friday. Should they have been able to see more with levels like that? I wanted to ask the consultant but she seamed keen to get rid of me .
Thanks for reading.

I would say that sounds fairly positive - those hcg levels are high... maybe it's twins!

Good luck for Thursday.

Ohforfoxsake · 26/04/2009 18:47

I had an early scan at 6 weeks and was told it was too early to see anything.

But it all sounds very positive, so don't get stressed about it.

This happened to me and I am due soon...there is no missing my pg now so try your best not to stress out, they tend to be cautious and not give too much away so its just waiting I'm afraid....good luck hun!

Sounds like what happened to me. I was 5w5d along and my HCG levels were similar to yours. All they saw was a sac during my scan.. no HB or fetal pole. I freaked! But after a lot of reading on the internet, I found that it was perfectly normal. I am now 27 weeks and my little bean is doing very well. If your dates are even a little off, it will affect your scan so early on. I am betting that at your next scan appointment you will be able to see your LO. Best of luck and try to relax!

Thanks for the replies. Am feeling a little more positive today. It's the waiting thats the hardest as I am sure you all know.
I read to much on google and have been scared about molar pregnancy.
Can't wait for Thursday to be over with.

Same thing happened to me, I had a scan at 5w, and they couldn't see anything, although they assured me that they could see as much as was possible at that stage, IYSWIM. I was brought back at 7w and saw the HB and a little cashew nut. Dd is 2 next month, but gawd, it was a stressful time.

Never Google. Ever.

Breizhette · 28/04/2009 16:52

Same here. I drove myself sick with worry. DS is now 9 month old.

auntypurple · 28/04/2009 22:42

Thank you all. My scan is at 10:30am will post on Thursday afternoon to let you know what happens.

I just read this thread and when i saw your scan went well auntypurple i was so glad for you!! Im having a scan 2moro As i went to the docs and i told them it felt like i was having a period thats the best way i could describe the slight cramps. Im around 8 weeks And i think the only reason the doctor sent me for a scan is because she didn't know what to think she was only a local/locum doctor Well i think thats what my surgery called her. Im really nervous that they wont see anything on the scan but now reading your tread im feeling a bit lighter and excited.
