Hello

I am 28+3 with my 2nd pg and all day I have been feeling a bit wierd, nothing I can really put my finger on but a bit light headed, slightly queasy and just generally not right.

I have eaten and drunk as normal but just can't seem to shake this feeling.

Any ideas or advice?

Many thanks xxx

Becca, I have been feeling the same as you for a couple of days and today I have come down with an horrendous cold. I am 28+1 and feel awful.
I hope you don't get this cold and feel better soon. Have you had your bloods taken to check your iron levels yet?

slushy06 · 25/04/2009 18:17

Sorry about spelling and lack of punctuation, I was busting for the toilet.

At 28 weeks I started to feel like you and it very swiftly turned into actual vomiting and a temperature. It turned out to be a kidney infection which is a big worry as it can bring on early labour. If you get any other symptoms make sure you get medical advice asap. They won't mind.

Hehe slushy

Thanks for the replies - if I still feel bad tomorrow after resting or if I get any more symptoms I will call my mw Monday.

We live in the middle of nowhere pretty much so it is a bit difficult trying to see a doctor or anyone at the weekend!!

I was supposed to have my iron levels checked this week but as I had my GTT the day before (all fine) I was told I could have it at an extra appt at 31 weeks.

Can you ring the out of hours doctors (if you need to)? They give advice over the phone in my area.

RascalMama · 25/04/2009 21:00

Beccabump - do you have any other symptoms such as 'heartburn' pain under your ribs? Dark urine?

Sure you are fine but the feeling off and sickly, and lightheadedness (?BP high) can be signs of pre-eclampsia

More info here www.apec.org.uk/ Like others have said it's prob a cold but if you are at all unsure please ring your hospital and go and get checked out.

Wilkiepedia · 25/04/2009 21:03

Becca - had exactly the same as you and found my iron levels had dropped to 9.2 (should be 10.4). Been on iron tabs and feel loads better.

Wilkiepedia · 25/04/2009 21:03

Oh and meant to say this was at 28 weeks, am now 33 weeks

Beccabump · 27/04/2009 10:28

Off to see my mw at lunchtime today - still not feeling right, really hoping it's just a virus and being a bit run down :S

I agree with RascalMama Becca, I had those symptoms when I developed pre-eclampsia with my first baby. Make sure the MW checks your blood pressure.

Beccabump · 27/04/2009 11:08

Taking a vial of wee, mw will def do bp and also my iron levels - have a v v v good mw here!

Lucky you Becca, I have to remind mine to do just about everything. Hope it goes well.

Beccabump · 27/04/2009 11:21

lazylion - mine has even given me an extra appt though this is DC2! she is really lovely, think it helps we have a very dedicated mw team who see women through each pregnancy - last pg it was pot luck who i would see on the day! mine even has pre-prapared prescriptions for my antacids!!

Seen the mw, bp fine, wee fine, heartbeat good and bump spot on for size.

She took bloods to check my iron levels and will get back to me if there are any problems.

She thinks it's either my iron or I'm sickening for a virus - got her instruction to rest lots and generally take it easy (Hubby away for next 3 days so not really going to happen!) and to go back or call her if I'm still feeling poorly next week.

Got to keep my 31 week appt too so she can check up on me - hope it's not the anaemia as I really want a home birth!

Glad to hear it Becca.

You sound like you could be aneamic. I have suffered with anemia last pregnancy and this time. I find iron tablets very rough on my stomach so my midwife recomended "floridix" i buy it in holland & barrets.

Once I have been taking the iron tablets for a while and my iron levels have picked up, i replace the tablets with floridix to maintain my iron.

As floridix is a natural suplement I recomend it to keep your iron levels up even if you are not aneamic and you can take it if you are also taking iron tablets.
