Stripe on bump - does it mean your having a boy?

I think it's called a linea nigra..something like that..the vertical stripe that runs down the bump!

Just wondering on behalf of a friend really ..I had one with DS but not with DD

the old wives tale says boy. I had it with ds1 and 2 but didnt with dd or ds3

no, it does not

some women don;t get it at all

it is a hormonal thing, same as your nipples, and freckles etc getting darker in pregnancy

I've had a dd and a ds.

Didn't get the stripey thing either time.

Other than a willy on your scan, there's nothing that can tell you you're having a boy (and even then it's not 100%)

linea nigra- - agree with other posters- doesn't mean anything.It happens, pigmentation of the skin.

I had it with DS, didn't with DD.

Never believe old wives tales though.

ive got a very visible one, 41weeks pregnant with BOY! but my best friend had exactly the same with both her girls so i wouldnt believe it

stripe means zebra, spots mean leopard.

I've got a stripe and I'm having a girl in 6 weeks time - so no!!

I have had a boy and a girl and never got that line at all

if it runs down the bottom of bump and around the belly button its a girl!!!! if not at all its a BOY!!!!

I had two girls and got it with #1 but not with #2

I got a straight line from belly button to bottom of bump with dd. Its still here and shes 14monhs!

I dont think theres anything that can suggest that your having either gender apart from a detailed scan later in pregnancy.

Though I did experience v.bad heartburn in last 6 weeks, and dd was born with a FULL head of hair.

3 boys, no stripes!
