Will DH ever feel the kicking? Baby is SUCH a tease!

I'm 22 weeks pregnant. For two weeks now I've been getting wiggles and kicks that I'm sure can be felt from the outside. Tonight it was strong enough to make me jump. However, every single time DH tries to feel it, he (the baby) stops! It is sooooo frustrating!

I'm sure it will happen eventually, but we are both impatient. How long did you have to wait until your partner could feel the baby?

I think I was about 23-24 weeks (28 now) before I realised that I, never mind DP too, could feel/see the kicks from the outside! I never bothered to feel or look before then because I assumed it was still to small to visibly kick through all the padding!

She often stops whenever his hand touches my belly or he speaks to her which annoys him and just makes me laugh but most of the time she'll give him a good kickin, especially when he rests his head there and speaks!

Agree - when you get to the point where you can see your tum rippling and squirming, your DH will be able to feel!

Another four or five weeks or so, maybe?

I'm 35 weeks now and believe me there is no mistaking! DH can even feel what part of baby is where - a little foot, a head etc etc. Your DH will get a look in in due course!

Mine stops every time dh tries to feel too! 30 weeks and he hasn't felt it once ... yet!

booyhoo · 22/04/2009 12:23

im 36 weeks and mine doesnt stop except when OH tries to feel it, then it goes all shy so OH shouts as loud as he can to try and get a reaction, then gets fed up and disappears leaving me to suffer the response.

LOL

i'm so glad i'm not the only one this happens to...

it's sooo frustrating!!!

DH has felt the baby kick a couple of times, (through patience and perserverance) but considering she regularly seems to have two good aerobics sessions a day, that's not great odds!!!

little madam!

emmmz1980 · 22/04/2009 13:43

oh hes got until 7th may to feel the baby lol!

HeadFairy · 22/04/2009 13:43

My dh never felt ds kicking as ds would always stop as soon as dh put his hand on my bump. I think he was psychic

LionstarBigPants · 22/04/2009 13:51

I've been feeling baby move since about 15 weeks, but no-one was more surprised that me when DP was stroking the mini-bump the other day and we both felt the kick - was 17 weeks bang on!! Think it was at least 20 weeks last time to feel it externally. That said on both scans I've had so far it has been remarked how wiggly this one is - can hyper-activity be diagnosed in the womb ?

Myneaux · 22/04/2009 14:46

I didnt even really feel the baby move until about 25 weeks (although afterwards I realised that the 'wind' id been having was in fact the baby) so try and be patient

DH first felt the movement a few weeks after me. I am now 34 weeks and my tummy is constant squirming with feet and elbows sticking out.

This morning DH put his head to my tummy to say hello to the baby and got kicked in the head for his trouble !

YanknCock · 22/04/2009 18:41

Cheers everyone, glad I'm not alone in my impatience/frustration. Going to try to get DH to put his head on my belly after dinner--that's when the baby seems to go nuts. Thanks for the idea!

Ds was like this. The first time dh had any contact with the little fella was when he walked into the bathroom just as ds was turning around and my bump moved from left to right like a whale cresting. A bit of a shock for him to say the least .

Don't worry, you'll soon be able to wake your partner up to feel every 3am kick!

This happens to my poor fella a lot.
I've been able to feel kicks since about 20 weeks but im 24 weeks now and he still hasnt felt him kick.
I reassure him by telling him at least we know its his baby cause its as stubborn as he is

SpaceTrain · 24/04/2009 16:22

Trust me, byt he time you get to 33 weeks + your DH will start refusing to cuddle you in the night cos he's fed up of being woken up by baby kicks

tigerbump · 24/04/2009 16:31

I started feeling things at 20 weeks and the kicks got much more defined by 23 weeks and by 24 weeks DH can now feel them, before that he questioned what he thought he was feeling but now he loves it...he always knows when the baby starts to kick as sometimes i literally jump in bed.
