congratulations!
mine was a shock too, but now i just can't wait for him to be here. it takes a little while to get used to the idea but then u'll never be happier. i hope your pregnancy goes well as mine hasn't been that great. had morning sickness for first 5 1/2 mths and now im 36 wks pg. are you getting any pregnancy symptoms yet. i also agree with fastasleep make the most of it and sleep when ever you can coz as this baby gets bigger you will lose lots of sleep due to needing to wee all the time and just feeling uncomfortable. well sorry to put you off.
but really being pregnant is wonderful(most of the time) and you will really enjoy it after you get over the shock. and just think about all the cute baby shopping you get to do now, thats been my favourite bit(well apart from the spending money)
well hope everything goes well. take care xxx

mine was shock too. get a good book about babies development in womb as helps toknow what is going on in there. any query you have, do a search on here in archive threads, bound to have been asked before. you also likely then to find someone with same concerns/situation as you. that can help alot.

Don't buy the baby magazines !!! they do nothing but terrify you.

Congratulations! The best bit of advice someone gave me was that if you do read up about your pregnancy in a book, don't read too far ahead.

Good Luck

Hello there, I am also pregnant with my first, I am now 24 weeks with a due date of 15th Aug.

From speaking to friends, everyones pregnancy is different. I dont want to put you off but the first 18 weeks were pretty bad for me, with sickness, headaches, kidney infections and fainting fits! However, I am now positively blooming and feeling great and now the shock has passed I really cant wait for her to arrive!

Whatever you do, try and enjoy!

Hey jordang! my fist pregnancy was also a HUGE shock! i had just turned 20 and had only been with my boyfriend for 6 months! we had just quit our jobs (we met at work) and were living like lazy sods at his mums house most of the time, when we realised i was about a week late so we did a test, and well as you now know, we really thought it would be negative, but ithink i secretly knew at the back of my mind that it would be positive, i dont know how but i did! when we turned the little stick over and it had 2 blue lines i nearly fell over with shock, i think we just sat there for ages and never said anything, we had been soooo careful, i didnt want kids ever - at all!! but we had our little boy Charlie who is now nearly 5! and we have since had another little boy who is just 2 and we are expecting our 3rd! - we stayed together, it was tough at times but we love our kids, they have always been the best fun, they always make us laugh, they are a great excuse to go somewhere and do stupid childish things they are like little best friends and we all do everything together - trust me if we can do it so can you! you just need time to get used to the idea - it is alot to tkae in and even now nearly five years later and onto my third pregnancy i am still learning new things about being pregnant and having kids so just take it all in your stride if you can! - and HUGE congratulations!!!!! xxxx Helen xxxx

Congratulations on your news. How far are you now? Have you got in touch with your doctor to get a midwife? My little girl is 9 months old and the light of my life. Enjoy your pregnancy if you can because it goes sooo quick and then there is a baby who you will just adore but you will be tired. In the last few months really try and get as much sleep as possible. Wish I had!!!!
