11 Weeks strange bump on the left

Can anyone offer some words of comfort or advice? I'm 11 weeks pregnant, this is my second pregnancy and unlike with my first pregnancy I can't seem to feel the little bump in the middle of my lower abdomen (by the bikini line). However, in the mornings when I wake up there seems to be a strange bump on the left side of my lower abdomen and when I press down on it lightly it's slightly sensitive. I'm really worried that this might be an ectopic pregnancy or that the baby is not developing in the right place. Especially as last time around there was such a distinctive and well placed bump at this stage. Has anyone been through anything similar? I'm due for 12 week scan next week Tues but that just seems like a really long way away and this left-side bump is freaking me out. I have no pain or bleeding and have had normal preg symptoms like persistent nausea and random crying but still v.concerned is this normal?

my friend has this, she is now 15 weeks and her bump is still obviously on the left. She has had her scan and the midwife has checked her over but they don't have an explanation, they think perhaps something to do with muscle tone from previous pregnancy perhaps.

Hi Hangingbellyofbabylon thanks for reply - at least I'm not alone. Appreciate the response. I had c-section with first so maybe the scar tissue has altered womb shape slightly (she says clutching at straws)

Could it be a hernia? I have an umbilical one, its a bit smaller than a golf ball and protrudes visibly.

My bump seemed to be over one side at first... It straightened out eventually!

I had exactly the same problem! with my DD 7yrs ago I remember I had a neat little bump just by my bikini line but with this pregnancy ( I am now 18 wks) I had a bump on my right side which was quite obvious and painful to touch... I was really worried about it and had a scan which showed that everything was ok and that the lump was probably caused by previous CS. The ?real bump? started growing at around 15 wks and now the swelling on my right end side has completely gone even if when I press on that side it still feels quite tender.

M78 - thanks for posting a response - such a relief to hear you've had a very similar experience. Not long to go now 'til my scan so fingers crossed all will be well for me too

Longtalljosie - thanks for reply - that's encouraging. My mum also said it'll straighten out and not to worry.

suwoo - you could be right - after birth of DD1 my belly button went from a nice inny to a strange and wonky outy and a few people suggested I may have umbilical hernia but I never checked it out. Do you think it will show on the scan if I ask them to take a look??

Hmm, not sure about that? You can't miss mine, it sticks out like half a golf ball. I will ask the midwife in 2 weeks- it bloody hurts though.
