Hi everybody i'm a newbie & i just wanted to ask a question. I'm 28 & me & my boyfriend are wanting to try for a baby. When i was 19 i a miscarrage & then when i was 21 i had an ectopic pregnacy & had to have a tube removed. Last year my doctor put me on thyroid tablets as i'm very near to having an underactive thryroid.
I was wondering if anyone has also had a history like mine & have managed to conceive?

We have been having unprotected sex for around 8 months now & nothing has happened.

Sorry for the long post...bet your all bored now haha.

Hi I've had the miscarrage and ectopic but not any thyroid problems. But did have PCOS. AND, despite that, have had a ds!!! So there is hope. Good luck!

Goodness Bristolbird, you've been through it haven't you?

I'm 29 and have underactive thyroid but sadly had an MC last month.

Have you and your boyfriend been to the GP for any tests yet? My GP insisted on running fertilty tests on me and my husband at the same time (blood tests for me but he only had to erm, produce a sample of his man custard!!)

Good luck. You might want to come on over to the "conception" boards - lots of friendly and helpful girlies on there!

hi bristolbird...im 22 and have a ds of 3 years...i had two m/cs in 2007 when he was 1 and a half...one in june that year one in december that year...we decided to give it a rest for a while after that. i came off my injection in june last year and fell pregnant dec im now 20 weeks pregnant...there is hope hun!

i still worry awfully about miscarrying cos had one m/c at 11+5 weeks and one at 6 weeks, but have had both scans n everything is fine and baby is a nice active little one.

my thyroid has always been fine so i have no history on that.

if you are worried you arent concieving i would pay a trip to the doctors and ask their advice xx

I don't have the underactive thyroid, but conceived after 2 ectopics and a miscarriage. I also have only one tube (and when I conceived this time the egg came from my tubeless side).

8 months is not that long although I know it doesn't seem that way when you are ttc. Depending on your GP it might be worth pushing for a referral to a reproductive medicine unit, especially if there is likely to be a waiting list. Have you had your remaining tube checked out? If not, that might be something to ask for.

I hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi BB10

I had 3 m/c's and an ectopic, now with one healthy toddler and 22 wks pregnant all going well. (fingers crossed) There is definitely hope for you so don't let the TTC get you down. Have you read Taking charge of your fertility. Lots of girls find it really helpful. When I was going through my ectopic although I kept both tubes my consultant said the remaining tube can migrate and 'pick up' the egg from the other side; so not to get too distressed if I did have to have it removed. Keep in regular touch with your GP and ask for referrals to specialists if you think its necessary. You would be able to have an early scan with a previous ectopic so make sure when you do get lucky you press them for it.

Good luck xxx
