3/5 engaged at 34 weeks - does that mean an early birth is likely?

Am on my second pregnancy. Had my MW checkup yeaterday and she said I am 3/5 engaged.
Last pregnancy I never got to more than 2/5 engaged and didn't begin to labour naturally.

So is it standard to be so engaged at this stage? Or is it an indication that I might labour early?

Apparently with second pregnancies the babies can pop in and out of engagement. I was 1/5 engaged at 36 weeks with DS2 - he came at 38 weeks. I recommend lots of walking and hoisting DC1 up and down stairs from 37 weeks onwards(which I did once I started maternity leave - am sure is the reason DS2 appeared so early) if you want to encourage no2 out...

I was 3/5 at 34 weeks with ds and had to be induced 2 weeks over, so not necessarily !

Mind you, that was my first .

I was 3/5 engaged at 32wks with #1 she arrived at 40+3. My second baby engaged and popped out several times, he was 2/5 at one point but he wasn't engaged at all when I was induced at 40+14.

DD was 4/5 engaged for 9 weeks.

Looks like it's not a sign then. Phew! Can put off sorting out hospital bag etc for a while then.

Ah, but have you taken into account the law of sod? If you do your hospital bag in good time you'll go over, but if you're at the 'random collection of things on the bedroom floor' stage you go early !

another here that was engaged early but no early arrival with dd2
we will see what joys this bean give me
