DH wanted to go and visit his aunt who lives in Kent and was talking about us all going when the school holidays start (he works in education) I had to gently remind him that DD2 is due on the 17 of July that that would be a kinda no no at that particular point in time. He was upset, so I rang and spoke to his aunt to see if we could come in the May half term. She said that it is fine.

I will be approx 32/33 weeks pregnant by that point and don't fancy it much but DH really wants to go. MIL has said that if she can get the time off work she would drive us there and back so that we don't have to get the train. It is approx 250 miles from where we live to Kent.

Would I be mad to consider this. I would like to go as we have not been away for aaaaaages but I just don't know what to do. DD will love it, DH will get to see his aunt, MIL will get to have some quality time with DD, so there are a lot of pro's.

On the other hand I am not having a very good pregnancy, my heart condition has gotten worse and worse in this pregnancy and is causing me no end of trouble.

WWYD?

It's fine for a healthy person to do this.

I went camping up until i was 39 weeks pregnant, but to be fair mine was a compliciation free pregnancy.

I would go. Make sure you know where the local hospital is for your peace of mind and then enjoy!

Argh, I was hoping you would all say, yes it is fine, you go and enjoy yourself. lol

DH would be really upset if we don't go, and unfortunately I am not ready to spend 2 or 3 nights away from DD yet. DD would be okay, but I wouldn't

If you're worried about your health, give your doctor a call and ask his/her advice. If he/she says you should be fine, then no probs! If you do the journey in stages (have a break for a cuppa, then another for lunch, etc.) it'll be better for you and the other passengers too. Make sure you take water with you to drink on the way though.

LilredWG, DH's aunt has already said that she will rush me straight to the hospital should I need to go. I don't think she wanted me to pop early at her house lol.

I will have to have frequent rest stops anyway, I have a seriously weak bladder even when I am not pg lol.

I am seeing my consultant next Monday so I will ask him then.

I would go but take your notes and find out where the nearest maternity hospital is. I was totally shattered at this stage in pregnancy so bear in mind you might not have your usual energy! Good luck!

Sounds like DH's aunt will be looking after you.
