does an absent nasal bone at 21 weeks definitely mean my baby will have downs? Although all the other soft markers were found and no other problems im so worried sick about it and i have to wait another 2 week for another scan with a sonographer from kings. Has anyone else had this and found out their baby was fine?

Oh, Loganberry, I am so sorry that you are sick with worry...I can completely empathise. I'm afraid I don't knwo the statistics on this...but just didn't wnat to leave your message without comment.

Surely they can get you scan quicker!? I would be fighting as hard as you can for one...and perhaps enlist your midwife, consultant, GP (frankly anyone!) to help push it through for you. The anxienty alone is bad for you. Why are they taking so long to see you!?

Flirty x

Loganberry, how are you doing? Any more news on another scan? I hope you are managing ok and are not driving yourself too mad with worry. Best wishes.

hi ya Linspins thanks for asking, ive got my scan booked for 4.40pm this wednesday so have to wait and see. Im still worrying but theres nothing i can do now if my baby is downs so just looking forward to the birth and having a lovely new baby whatever happens, things could be worse, she's still my much wanted baby and will be very loved either way

Loganberry, so glad you feel positive about your lovely bubba. Good luck on wednesday and hope things go well.

just a quick up date went for another scan today see 3 different consultants and spent 3 1/2 hours there. None of them could find a nasal bone and said that at 22 weeks the nasal bone should be about 6mm and they couldnt see any, so im none the wiser to weather the baby is downs unless i have an amniocentesis, the consultant said i could have one at 32 weeks which reduces the risk considerably, but im not sure weather to have it.i will have the baby any way weather she is downs or not so i dont know if to have it so i can prepare myself and family or just wait and see.

hi loganberry poor you what a difficult place to be with no proper answer!! just to say i'm thinking of you and if it helps - I know several families who have children who do have Downs who say it's the best thing that has happened to them, and that their child has taught them how to laugh, love and live. So whatever happens, you will be the richer for this - and just to say, enjoy your pregnancy, it's a special time, whatever happens in the future - you have a lovely little baby in there who will need you and love you as their mum, and you will be fab at the job.
