Maternity jeans for short-arses

Although I'm only 8 weeks pg with #2, the bloating means that I'll be out of my normal jeans in a couple of weeks.

I'm 5' tall and looking for some nice over the bump jeans. I just wore stretchy trousers with ds, but I was in work full-time and didn't mind the corporate look. Now I'm a SAHM I'd like something a little more casual, but don't want trackies.

I'll also probably have to order online as none of the branches of shops round here are large enough to carry maternity ranges (that's right, nobody in rural areas needs maternity clothing ).

Please can anyone recommend any really nice maternity jeans in munchkin sizes ?

Not got personal experience but a close friend who is the same height as you bought hers online from Next- she mainly lived in jeans and found their maternity shorter length range really good

JRocks · 19/04/2009 19:56

I think Blooming Marvellous does different leg lengths - but not absolutely sure. And I've not ordered from them in a while. Sorry to be so vague

MrsHappy · 19/04/2009 20:01

Mamas and Papas do a short length which is 28 or 29 inches.

Joe1977 · 19/04/2009 20:03

I'm the same height as you, I found Next jeans were the right length, but they were only any good for early pregnancy, i was out of them by the time I was 6 months pregnant.

I think that Mothercare do some things in shorter length as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had a look on the Blooming Marvellous website and they had very little there clothing-wise. They've closed their shop in the nearest city to me - are they in trouble do you think?

Off to look up the other suggestions .

Shorter lengths in next, mothercare, funmum (online), M&S. But I still find these too long as I am 5 foot with short legs.

How short are your legs and what size are you ? I have 2 pairs which have been shortened - one is a Blooming Marvellous size 14 but are under the bump and a fun mum pair in a 10 over the bump(The first are from my first pregnancy, the second from my second when I was thinner ). You are welcome to them if you want them as I will probably just throw them out otherwise as not much call for short arse jeans ! They are both in pretty good condition.

hobbgoblin · 20/04/2009 18:53

Blooming Marvellous has gone to receivership. What's left is all you'll ever see from them, sadly.

I am 5'2" and now nearly 8 months pg and have managed in either regualr low cut jeans or a pair I have from Next.

H&M have been no good because they are too long.

I struggled beyond Next tbh. Sorry not to be more useful.

Dorothy Perkins do a short arse range of jeans (I am 5ft too ) here - size s

I did find that at first they felt very long but as my bump grew they were hoisted up so became the right length.

Other than that I bought a pair that fitted then cut the bottom off and went for the very chic frayed look!

MrsHappy · 20/04/2009 18:58

hobbgoblin - is that right? The last bit of news I saw said that BM had been bought out of administration, and therefore is continuing to trade.

hobbgoblin · 20/04/2009 19:00

The assistants in mine today said it was nearly the end of the end, so not necessarily gospel but I took that to mean there is no likelihood of them returning.

They have BOGOF on Sale items so I got two Hot Milk nursing bras for £9.50!

MrsHappy · 20/04/2009 19:04

What a good bargain. Although I don't know who came up with that name!

Fruitpastels · 20/04/2009 19:22

Not bought a pair yet.. But spotted a nice range of jeans on the JoJo Maman Bebe website. They do 3 different leg measurements. I will be placing my order as I'm expanding by the day! Good luck!

staylucky · 20/04/2009 19:44

Mammas and pappas have an excellent denim range, i'm 28 leg and their short length fit me really well. The sizings are quite comfy too.

I wouldn't buy anything else from there as I think they're really expensive but £40 for a decent pair of jeans I don't think is too much.

I spent a full day touring Leeds (which has some mint shops) looking for short length stuff and there's sod all so I don't think you're on your own hun x

funtimewincies · 20/04/2009 20:03

I does seem to be that you're only allowed to be one thing or the other - short or pregnant, not both together .

I'm not sure what leg measurement I am, about a 28" I think. Usually I get a short size and wear a heel, but I was in flat shoes for much of my first pg.

Glad I'm not alone !

I'm 5'3" and buy regular length and take them up. Given up trying to find stuff that is short enough.
