Gentle kicks, baby turned?

I'm 27 weeks, and have felt the baby kicking since around 20-21 weeks (my first).

I've noticed that for the past 4 or 5 days, most of her kicks seem to be very gentle. Almost as though she's kicking to the back of me, and not outwards at my belly. Now and again she'll give me a whopper which makes my whole belly jump, but for the past few days or so, they seem more gentle and 'deeper', and so aren't really making my belly jump as usual.

Can she have switched positions, and have her back to my belly, possibly explaining the gentle, deeper kicks?

I don't want to ring my midwife and tell her that she's kicking, but they seem more gentle, only to be told it's just her position..! But I also want to know whether it's normal for her to flip around now and again, making kicks not as obvious as usual.. feel stupid even asking as I know babies can move, I suppose I just want to hear others have experienced more gentle kicks from time to time and it's nothing to worry about!

Oh yes, absolutely, she's probably facing your back! If you can still feel her move, then everything is fine.

But if you are really really worried, do call the MW. That's what they are there for.

Thanks Tee

I've noticed a few times that her kicks have been a lot gentler than usual, but it normally only lasts for a day and then she flips back around. They've been quite gentle for nearly a week now though so I'm a lot more concious of any movements to check whether they feel stronger and it's driving me mad! I'll put it down to me having a hectic week at work and her not liking it as much as me

If you've been really busy, she might have actually kicked you harder and you didn't notice! I've actually been at work and suddenly stopped what I am doing to think 'wait, did my belly moved about 5 minutes ago and I just realized it?!?!'

I'm nearly 31 weeks and sometimes my baby definitely kicks lighter than other times!
