Dreaming about the baby, and what it means? (if anything)

At about 12 weeks, I had my first dream about the baby. Unfortunately, I dreamed I got its head stuck in the sofa and couldn't get it out.

The dream continued and I'd left the baby alone in a room with no furniture. When I came back, the baby was sitting up, and I was surprised because I thought it shouldn't have been able to sit up yet. It was also chewing on yellow ribbons, which I had to remove from its mouth.

I didn't have (or didn't remember) any baby dreams for about 8 weeks, then just had another recently.

This time, I had my new baby (and knew it was a boy). I was attempting to breastfeed, and found it surprisingly easy. Afterward, I realised there was a big smear of poo leaking out down his leg, and I suddenly remembered we hadn't bought any more clothes for him! Big panic, then dream ended.

So....clearly I have some anxiety about doing stuff right (not sleeping on sofa, childproofing, enough equipment, leaking nappies), but at least I'm feeling somewhat confident about breastfeeding!

What are your baby dreams like?

i had alot of baby dreams in the first two trimesters, some about twins, some about dropping my baby, premature delivery, an alot i cant remember just now. i think the same as you Yankn i had anxieties. i havent had any baby dreams in a long while now, and i sort of miss them, but i guess i'll have the real thing soon enough.

I've only had 1 dream about the baby. Nothing else since - feel like a terrible mother before the baby even gets here

I don't remember any dreams with my first but with ds I had a horrible horrible nightmare that still sticks in my mind.

I was at an ante-natal appointment and the consultant had a look at the scan pictures, then broke the news to me very gently. He showed me the picture so I could see for myself what was wrong, and then pointed out gently that I could not let a baby like that be born, I would have to have a termination, as the baby's head was clearly upside down on its neck. I still remember sobbing in my dream and asking the doctor 'what shall I do, my little daughter is outside in the waiting room and she has never seen me cry'. I was tearful and upset for days after I woke up.

Ds is now nearly 9 and as far as I can make out he had his head screwed on right

Though actually both he and his older sister (though I did not know it at that time) have a condition which involves a certain degree of disability. Purely coincidental though.

in the early weeks i had some really bizarre dreams about giving birth to kittens, puppies, even lizards! and then a couple of weeks later, a really lovely dream about breastfeeding where it was easy and seemed to come completely naturally (hope this one comes true!). haven't had any baby-related dreams in several weeks now though - none that i remember anyway.

JetLi, you don't need to beat yourself up for not having baby dreams! FWIW, I've only had two, and most of the time when I remember my dreams they're not about the baby.

And you never know, you could be having them and not remembering. Nothing to be upset about either way.
