Why don't you book an emergency appointment with your GP or the GUM clinic? You could have an infection. Fresh red blood is usually the first sign of a miscarriage (and even that doesn't always mean m/c).

Good luck.

I had a swob done to see if i had infection last thursday and got results back on tuesday, they said they were clear. Is this not normal then?

It could be implantation bleeding - how many weeks are you? I had a bit of brownish spotting (more like a tiny bit of stringy stuff) with ds (sorry tmi).

If you've had a swab and it was fine I wouldn't worry too much. It doesn't sound like a miscarriage to me. But if it gets heavier and has blood then definitely get it checked out again.

Good luck.

I had a few bits of very light spotting at the beginning - 38 weeks tomorrow!!

The midwives cant tell you its normal and will all be ok because sometimes it is a sign of bad things going on. But often its not!

i will be 8 weeks 2mor. I don't really have any pain other then everything changing inside, like we get. I have used a small panty liner due to last week etc getting clear discharge. There is no red bleeding or anything, just yellow/brown colour and only a little line of it had only a little spot of it yesterday. I had expalined to them that i had 3 threatend miscarrages with my pregnancy 13 years ago as my son is 14 this year. Also another pregnancy 4 years after having my son i had alot of bleeding but had a emergency scan and they said it was ok and i was only about 6-7 weeks pregnant. But why do thwey keep telling me they cant do anything now as they wont see anything???

They are wrong in saying that they couldn't see anything if they were to scan. Are you in London? If so, you can self-refer to St George's in Tooting and be scanned. If not, is there a walk-in EPAU near you where you could have a scan to put your mind at rest?

You say the discharge is yellow/brown. Is it more yellow? I only ask because the midwife you spoke to is, IMHO, not right; yellow discharge is very common in pregnancy (i.e. you shouldn't panic just because it is not clear). I have had it in all of my pregnancies and it is the mucus plug building up and is nothing to worry about.

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 17/04/2009 15:38

i don;t think it sounds like a miscarriage. especially if you are not in pain, no fresh red bleeding etc

sounds like normal pregnancy discharge, you would be able to see on a scan if things were ok at 8 + weeks, but i don;t think there is really a reason for a scan, except to reassure you, IFYSWIM, as nothing really to panic about IMHO

a scan will reassure you, but can;t prevent anything going wrong and i can understand why you are so anxious based on what has happened in the past

If you're still being sick in the mornings there's a good chance that everything is fine (!)

Folkestone · 17/04/2009 18:13

I didn't have daily discharge but did have it just for one day, I have since had a scan at 6weeks and everything is fine. I am now 10 weeks.

I agree, book an appointment to be on the safe side.
