i posted earlier that for a few weeks i have had a discharge that looks like bogeys...comes out in clumps every few days (possibly after sex) have been googling it and it says it could be my mucus plug...im only 19 weeks...should i be worried and book a doctors appointment or not???

btw i have had 2 m/cs before i fell pregnant with this baby so im a bit anxious now, please reassure me ladies...

fran i was experiencing this last week although I am much further on that you (31 weeks) I done a bit of research and if the mucus has a blood tinge to it, it could well be your mucus plug. mine's never had blood tinge to it so I have been reassured it was not my plug. has your discharge been clear/creamy with or without a blood tinge? If you are still very worried about it i would contact your midwife asap for reassurance/advice

I tend to have a snot-like discharge for a lot of pregnancy and assume it is just excess from my mucus plug building up. I have always been told that it is normal to have lots of discharge in pregnancy.

IME the mucus plug is really quite a lot of goop (I couldn't believe it when I felt mine come out in one piece in labour - I thought my waters had gone or I had just delivered a very small baby) and I reckon that if little bits are coming away after sex your cervix will simply make more.

But of course, as you are worried you should mention this to your midwife who will be able to put your mind at rest.

laura no it isnt blood tinged its kinda like a yellowy colour, no blood at all, from what u have both said i think your right...i just panic at everything after the two mc/s!!! thanks for putting my mind at rest u two xx
